Yeah, wait a week or two and quantum boards will be old news. One thing you don't want with LED are blurples. I've seen grows from them that are every bit as good as my T12 florescent bulb grow in the 80s.He had multiple COBs as far as I know it was pretty spread out. He built his own board there was a panel that was probably 3x3 that was filled with LED's
The stuff he bought that was pre put together was garbage, this was his best results using LED. This was done a couple of years ago, so I am sure the tech has advanced since then, but the question remains how it stands versus HPS.
HPS is the baseline for indoor growing in my opinion.
From what I'm seeing from other people quantum boards are standing on their own merit. Especially if you get someone stuck in the past who insists on burning 1000w no matter what they're using.
They say my 200w SF can do 2x4 flowering, I think 400w SF4000 can do 5x5. If you put 1000w worth together you're getting way more coverage than a single 1000w bulb.
My floodlights are 25w each. I could see tying a bunch of those COB boards together and having good results through flowering if the grower stays reasonable (unlike me). I'm thinking of turning mine into space buckets.
They definitely do great through 4 weeks of veg.
Mine looked good at the start of flowers, they just dried fluffy and most of the little buds never grew into a mass of big bud (right side of the picture) that would impress anyone.
I don't remember if I posted this picture here, this was about halfway through flowering. Hopefully I learned a little (hopefully I get a bunch of feminized seeds from this pheno to practice with).
