I have one guy that went on the cheaps with led and his highest yielding crop is 1.5lb a plant. But i know first hand with the led brands I listed they are getting 2-3.5 easy depending on their grow space and methods plus nutrients used. Like my nutrient routine would easily get you 3lb if you have the grow space.

also consider I’m not setting up tents I’m setting up 1200-2000 sqft ops. So getting electric bill from 3500 a month down to 2000-2500 a month is a big difference. So the up front cost is more but long run it’s a no brainer. Also depending on where you live weather does play afactor when you use led. Since you aren’t getting heat From your lights you need heat in the winter to balance room temp. That is another draw back with led which is prob irrelevant where you live but in Michigan it’s an added cost.

I am literally setting up a room so I can grow my Carolina Reaper, Golden Scorpion, and Black Mamba hot peppers.

I think I said it before but in case I didn't, I built my grow box years before getting my card hoping to find seeds (never did). I ran a trial with a pepper, jalapeno, bell or tobasco, in compost. This was with a single 50w LED flood light. The other peppers went outside. The one inside dwarfed the ones outside. If it wasn't for a fungus (my compost isn't kept up with so probably doesn't get hot enough) I'm sure it would've produced, I've got peppers off my T5 bank and this plant looked way better than they do under that.

If you go LED and it's not enough penetration you could try some side lights of T5s.

Depends on strand and grow room size. If the an auto feeder is used 5 gallon pot is more than enough.

So is this your business? I am going to assume you are pretty much an expert at setting up proper grow rooms then? Just how much total does it cost to set up a room for 72 plants? Do business growers prefer LED or CMH or CPS?

While not cannabis related, I thought you might enjoy a photo, here is a picture of the last harvest of hot peppers for the season. A good mix of ultra hots. From my outdoor garden, we had a hard freeze kinda early and I had to go strip the plants. Would've doubled this with another two weeks. Making hot sauce is a bit of a bitch though because I end up fogging out my kitchen with ridiculous fumes.

I have plans for an outdoor setup eventually with basically a turkey frying setup. Big pot on a propane burner. I haven't taken that step because my yields, while being good, do not require that type of setup. I guess I could go on my propane grill, but the one I currently have doesn't have a bean burner on it so I haven't gone that route.

I use my smoker to make smoked peppers for sauce outside, but the boiling and emulsifying happens indoors currently. Got a new Cuisinart food processor this year that does a far better job than the blender. hot sauce separation is a thing of the past with the cuisinart. Still, if I am doing big batches (over a gallon) I will have to find a better solution.

You could also use that setup for deep frying jalapeño poppers.

Depending on how they want it done. In a warehouse where you have to build rooms inside a room and factor in containing smell and prob doing 3-4 rooms around 80-90000. If they just want one big room like some barns being done that don’t care about smell cause they’re sitting on 10 acres around 50000.

One city is actually auditing everyone with over 300 amps and taking it down to 200 if it’s being used to grow lol. I haven’t done one grow in last year that doesn’t go with led. As for the commercial growers all the new ones are going with led. Allot of the older ones are switching them up slowly. Imagine having 1500 plant grow the switch to led to the bottom line would be out of this world. Plus those 1500 plant growers from what the business plans I see are only pushing .5 pounds a plantthey aren’t going for 3+ and I don’t really know why.

I would consider a yield of a half pound a failure on my part. I do admit that outside plants have a much higher yield if you can keep the bugs and rot away.

Does size matter when doing hydroponics? I got 3 gallon which are short 5 gallon buckets. I thought of 1 gallon but wasn't sure if it would cut the plant/bud size.

Glad I didn't now because that would be daily top ups or else death in the hot months.

I saw an article on states that are requiring them to cut their energy use or supply their own. It mainly said most are afraid of changing from the known and changing their grow style because of it. So they are mixing in LED slowly.

I use a carbon P100 mask and biker goggles with cotton stuffed in the air vents to grind horse radish inside. I only noticed a pepper problem when making habanero potatoes. Or when a pickling jar broke in a water bath.
Nobody else will be happy but at least you can breathe and see that way.

I have zero experience anything hydroponics related. But to set up a auto feeder with drains for run off etc for 72 plants will run you 6-10000 depending on how many rooms or one big room

No...I also have 2 4x4 tents in my shop. Currently one has a 315 Watt CMH and the other has 2 cheap LED's bought on Amazon. Once that plant is done going to switch to a 600W HPS light for the next grow to keep the tent warm.

Not bad considering 8oz a failure indoors.
I was expecting 1oz (but I wanted a 13 plant limit to SOG tiny clones). I heard someone got 5oz their first grow so I was amazed when I've consistently got 8oz.

4 weeks (plus a few extra days) and flip. Both females again. Since I'm doing much better I'll be working on feminized seeds hopefully. Then I can focus on getting that done one way or another with the 2:1 unless the other 8 seeds are all male, then I'll probably try a different variety.

I have a 4 foot tall box. Minus the bucket, minus the light, minus distance from the light = not much room for stretch.
Even with an indica like my first one it's hard to fit. I tend to like more sativa leaning than that one. I'm not sure where this one come in at on percentage but after the last one I'd rather have extra room than not enough.

I'm going to continue tying it down through some of the stretch.
I think if I did this with the last variety I could get some pretty big and dense buds.

The breeder was clear with the Gobbstopper being mostly Indica and Lovelace being 75% Sativa. This one doesn't say, but it does use words like uplifting, energetic and euphoric so I'm planning on it being like the last one.
But if it's like the Gobbstopper I trained similarly that's OK with me.

Get a bigger tent. 4 foot is entirely to small. Once flower starts and they start to stretch you are fucked. This is a single sativa dominant hybrid in a 4x4x8 and the light is as high as it can go. The majority of branches are tied up to keep them from breaking. Also the top of the plant is tied down to the back of the tent about 10 inches from the floor.
