Smart - get out of the SEC. Much easier path to CFP thru the PAC-12, not to mention the program and incredible recruiting pool he has to draw from.
He has already been raiding California. As much as people will troll him for "being afraid" of the SEC, he will now enjoy an unobstructed path to the CFP. Nobody in the west is worth a shit, and the Big12 sure isn't going to be a threat to get a spot in the CFP.

I will predict what everyone else is probably predicting - Luke Fickell (who thinks he's too good for most jobs) will wind up at Notre Dame.

When poor ol' Illinois (and many other schools) are looking to hire, fans throw out top names as though they'll consider these schools.

The reality is, Oklahoma and Notre Dame, 2 schools with multiple recent CFP appearances, just lost their head coaches to other colleges.

Brian Kelly to LSU is a match made in hell. Neither side will be happy 3 years from now. Kelly couldn’t beat the big boys at ND, I doubt he will at LSU. LSU fans will turn on him so fast…some probably already have. He doesn’t “fit” in their culture down there

Many think they should just promote Marcus Freeman but Fickell and Matt Campbell are being mentioned. I’ve got to think if I’m a Notre Dame fan and Matt Campbell comes, I would be a little disappointed

He isn’t going anywhere lol. And he’s paid well enough for what he is. They re-upped him at the end of 2019 (iirc) thru 2025. I was kinda looking forward for something different but end of the day, it could be much worse. Look at what happened to Nebraska after they canned Pelini

Miami pays $9 million to buy out Cristobal from Oregon, $8 million to buy out the coach they hired recently, Diaz, and will pay Cristobal $8 million per year.

Good lord there's a lot of money out there.

P. S. Have they told Diaz yet?

Diaz is the guy that accepted a coaching job elsewhere and left for Miami in the same off season. I don't feel sorry for him.
