Usually, about half of the preseason Top 10 don't finish anywhere near the Top 10. ISU, ND are the 2 that jump out to me, as well as LSU at #11.

Thoughts?

I'll be honest here, I don't expect Iowa to have that great of a year. I don't have much confidence in the QB situation.

I don't know what to think of ISU - I do think they warrant their rank based on past two seasons and they brought pretty much everyone back, but I would not be surprised to see them shit the bed.

I’m expecting Florida to take a step back this season. Their ranking seems a bit high to me

I agree with that too.

Cincinnati will probably drop as well. The usual blue bloods should be fine.

LSU under rated in that poll. They are stacked. Orgeron recognized he didnt handle the pressure well after the National Championship. Made some good changed and the talent is there. Should be a top 10 team and def over Notre Dame who is always over rated.

They are loaded with talent, no doubt. But per usual, it’ll come down to what kind of QB play they get. That’s always their struggle

They have no problem beating LSU in bowl games now!

Being an Illinois fan, I have the strange mixed feeling of a) looking forward to seeing what's different now that Lovie is gone and b) expecting an offense that relies on a ground game, while the team is physically inferior to opponents. That leads to boring losses.

But I do think there will be positives - it's just so hard to expect much when they recruit lesser players than their conference opponents literally every year. I am impressed with how Bielema as handled publicity and PR, and how he did a good job reconnecting with Illinois high school coaches. I expect that will pay off somewhat over time. But they're picked last for a reason, and all I can hope is that they surprise us.

In other conferences, I wouldn't mind seeing Texas get the snot knocked out of them on a weekly basis by Big XII opponents. Oklahoma can apparently suck and still be in the CFP hunt as we saw last year.

And while I used to root for Dabo, he changes that every time he opens his mouth. I would not be upset to see somebody knock that team off. But since they play nobody, I don't expect it.

He was always a good recruiter, it's just a question of his coordinators. When he lost his coordinators at UT to head coaching gigs, it really fell apart for him.
