Jaylon Johnson vs. Lions WR's

Rookie defensive back Jaylon Johnson will start in his first career NFL game after the Bears took him in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. After the Bears released Kevin Toliver and lost Tre Roberson and Artie Burns to injury, Johnson won the starting job. He will have a tough task ahead of him playing opposite of Kyle Fuller as he will go up against Marvin Jones Jr. and Kenny Golladay.

Khalil Mack/Robert Quinn vs. Lions tackles
The Bears went out and found another legit pass rusher to plug in opposite of Khalil Mack by signing veteran Robert Quinn. The edge rusher is coming off a 12.5 sack season with the Dallas Cowboys and should be a nice compliment to Mack, or at least better than Leonard Floyd was. Their first test as a duo comes against Taylor Decker and Halapoulivaati Vaitai. On paper this looks like a big advantage for the Bears edge rushers as they should be able to generate some pressure.

MITCH TRUBISKY vs THE WORLD
It's the last chance for Bears QB Mitch Trubisky as he was named the starter over Nick Foles. The Bears didn't pick up the fifth-year option on Trubisky this offseason and now it's his last chance. This is it for Trubisky. The first step was winning the job, the second is playing well and forcing the Bears to franchise tag him. It's ride or die with our dear sweet Mitchell.

2618
The Bears haven't won a Week 1 game since the 2013 season when they beat the Cincinnati Bengals at Soldier Field in the first game under Marc Trestman. Chicago has lost in prime time in back-to-back seasons to start the year, both losses coming at the hands of the Green Bay Packers.

Zack -- Mack and Quinn are both on the injury list this week. Mack is expected to play, not sure about Quinn. If both of them can't go this will be a very tough game to win.

Mitch Trubisky: 18-30, 202 yards, 1TD, 0INTS, 3 rushes, 20 yards.
David Montgomery: 16 carries, 60 yards, 1TD, 2 receptions, 17 yards.
Allen Robinson: 6 receptions, 73 yards

Bears 23
Lions 16

I predict a very middling day for the offense and Trubisky, I just suspect they'll benefit from a couple of short fields and a lot of time with the ball due to good defensive work. Going with the Bears because defense is even more important than it normally is during the beginning of the season (and it's more important during the beginning of a season even in normal times, now it's even moreso).

If Bears win the coin toss, do you think they put the offense or defense on the field first?

Chicago is going to win this football game and let me tell you why. Detroit is the one team in the NFL that Trubisky doesn’t look like play like a deformed teddy bear against. I actually expect a good game out of Trubisky. Meanwhile, Stafford is coming back from his back injury and will probably be rusty so I can’t see him going blow for blow with Trubisky.

Chicago wins it 34-16
