ROBERT QUINN vs YOSH NIJMAN
What a difference a year makes for Robert Quinn in a Bear uniform. From vastly underperforming his debut season, to knocking on the door of franchise record breaking season. If the Bears have any hope keep Aaron Rodgers grounded in prime time, it begins and ends with Quinn getting in his face earlier and often. Yosh Nijman is a third year undrafted free agent, forced into protecting Rodgers' blindside after another injury on Green Bay's offensive line. While the Bears could move Quinn around a lot, you have to believe this is Quinn's best matchup of the night. Is Nijman up to the challenge or does Quinn improve on his stellar season?
ARTIE BURNS vs MARQUEZ VALDES-SCANTLING
With all the focus on stopping star receiver Davante Adams and Green Bay likely missing slot receiver Randal Cobb, it's the speedy Valdes-Scantling that good see the most one on one looks. Artie Burns played fairly well last week in a sloppy weather game where the ball did not come his way often. That could change on Sunday Night as Rodgers will continue to exploit a Chicago secondary giving up far too many big plays this season. Will MVS be a MVP or a F-L-O-P?
BEARS INTERIOR OL vs KENNY CLARK
The absolute centerpiece of the Green Bay defense is star lineman Kenny Clark. He aligns all over the interior. He is athletic and strong enough to take on double teams, beat one-on-one blocks, and impact both the run and pass game. Clark lines up as a 1-tech, a 3-tech, and a true nose directly over the center. The ability to move around from play-to-play gives defensive coordinator Joe Barry a ton of flexibility to create advantageous matchups. There are plenty of weak spots along the Bears interior OL, most notably center Sam Mustipher and guard James Daniels. Starting a wounded rookie QB, the Bears will be looking to establish a ground game as soon as possible, but it's Clark that will play the key piece in making sure that never happens.
Lost in all the Aaron Rodgers love is a Green Bay defense that has only allowed the Bears to score more than 28 points once since 1994, a 35-7 win in 2007. The final game Brett Favre would face the Bears in a Packer uniform. In the past five matchups with the Bears, the Packers have only allowed 71 points (14.2 ppg), while forcing ten turnovers and only committing one.
