While Everson Griffen has been stalwart in his 10 seasons in Minnesota, it is 2019 standout Danielle Hunter who will most concern coach Matt Nagy. Hunter will line up at left end, meaning he will be opposite newcommer at right tackle, Cornelius Lucas. With 14.5 sacks on the season, this will be the toughest pass rusher Lucas has faced since taking over the position for the injuried Bobby Massie. Is Lucas up to the task to keeping his QB clean against one of the season's premier sack artists?
MATT NAGY vs GEORGE EDWARDS
There’s no defense that is forcing more turnovers in the past couple of games than the Vikings, who have garnered 10 takeaways in the last two games...seven against the Chargers and three against the Packers...which is four more than any other team in that same span. They’ve forced eight fumbles (recovered six of them) and have four interceptions in the past two weeks. So the Bears offense definitely has its hands full as it prepares to face a Vikings defense that is peaking just ahead of its postseason berth. The Bears have turned the ball over three times in the past two games...all three of them coming against the Packers. While the Bears are coming off a game where they didn’t turn the ball over against the Chiefs, an entire nationally televised audience saw how well playing it safe worked out for Chicago. Can Nagy get some points scored before 2019 ends without turning the ball over to a defense looking to sharpen it's own claws before a playoff run it's opposition will be watching from a couch?
MITCHELL TRUBISKY vs THE WORLD
To say Trubisky has had a disappointing season just might be the biggest understatement of the 2019 NFL Season. Did not help matter any that his offense was completely shut out and booed off of their home field on Prime Time last Sunday...which is exactly how the season started. So our Dear Sweet Mitchell gets one last audition before every question about the 2020 Chicago Bears offseason revolves, in some way, around the former second overall pick. Can Trubisky put together one more efficient looking performance to spring board into his final year of his rookie contract before it is months of relentless questioning of the third year quarterback?
The 2019 Chicago Bears have regressed in about every meaningful stat on both offense and defense, but the "Stat of the Season" would be the team has only 29 touchdowns this season, as opposed to scoring 50 touchdowns in 2018. The defense accounted for 6 of the 50 TDs last season while the defense has only one touchdown in 2019...way back in Week 3.
