LARRY BOROM vs. NICK BOSA

It's still unclear who will be starting at right tackle for the Bears on Sunday, but it's a shallow pool. Elijah Wilkerson was a last minute game day scratch thanks to a positive COVID test. In his relief was (2020) seventh round pick Lachavious Simmons making his first career start. To say Simmons was overmatched against the likes of Jason Pierre-Paul & Shaquil Barrett is a pretty massive understatement, leading him to be benched for interior lineman Alex Bars. Now the Bears have seen the return of their fifth round pick, Larry Borom, who has been practicing at right tackle. If Wilkinson gets clearance before Sunday, he still could get the nod to start against the 49ers, but the Bears certainly need a better Plan B. While the hope is Borom will be better than Simmons before him, he is still going to be in for a huge challenge against Niners pass rushing star Nick Bosa in only his first career start. With five sacks on the year, Bosa is the man you want to contain to keep your QB clean...which has been a massive problem in the early days of the Justin Fields Era. Can the young lineman bring much needed security to the right side?

TREVIS GIPSON vs. MIKE MCGLINCHEY

With a healthy Khalil Mack, this would be a clash of the titans as McGlinchey is one of the best at his position. With all reports pointing to Mack missing time due to a nagging foot injury and Robert Quinn last seen on the team's growing COVID report, the spotlight is going to be thrown on second year OLB Trevis Gipson. Gipson has flashed as a pass rusher, but has struggled against the run which plays right into McGlinchey's strengths and the strengths of Kyle Shanahan's play action heavy offense. With San Francisco also in a transnational phase at quarterback, the Niner's will try to lean on a run game the Chicago defense has been suddenly susceptible too. Can Gipson step up to stop the Niner offense or will McGlinchey swallow the young linebacker whole?

CHRIS TABOR vs. MATT NAGY

Week 8 kicked off for the Bears with Head Coach Matt Nagy testing positive for COVID-19. This has forced Nagy out of Halas Hall and special teams coach, Chris Tabor, to take over as acting head coach of the Chicago Bears. For the second consecutive season, Matt Nagy has given up playcalling on game days to his offensive coordinator, to moderate success in balancing the offense. With the chance to remove Matt Nagy completely from practices and probably even a game day sideline, does the team look more prepared or less disciplined? Does the offense take less delay of game penalties or does it become, somehow, even more disjointed? Do the Bears pull out of their first losing streak of the season without their much maligned head coach or is this the beginning of a far worse tailspin?

Honestly, this is a very winnable game for us. We suck, but the 49ers are pretty bad. They have a solid defense, but they play a VERY wide nine. Perfect game to pound the ball with Herbert and get into some 3rd and manageable situations. San Fran has a shitty secondary as well, this might be the game where Fields breaks out with some big throws... permitting the offensive line holds up, which it won't.

Offensively, the 49ers are very conservative and very basic. A lot of smoke and mirrors with their motions and formations, but after two scripted series the offense is trash. Jimmy G throws at least 3 "I dont know what I'm doing" balls a game and the rookie isn't ready.

Again, I think we SHOULD win this, but I'm confident we will find a way to lose.

If Nagy is not coaching I bet this team puts up 27 points. If he’s there, more of the same.

Course, I merely am hoping the bears win this one. It’s the 3rd most important game of the season to me(after the two packer games) due to my fiancé being a 49ers fan

Those 3rd and 4th down conversion numbers for both teams are absolutely dismal.

This is a suckfest.

Bears win because they are at home.
16-13 in a very boring and frustrating game for all fans.

Headshaking plays all over the field. Ample opportunity for either team to run away with it but refusing to do so.

I fully expect at least one instance of one team turn it over to the other, and jave that team turn it over on the ensuing drive.

I picked the Bears, just feels like its one they win somehow. I think if Nagy isn't there, they win by a good margin, the talk of moving on from him explodes.

The offense won't look decent. It's still run by the same guy that's been running it since the Detroit game. Also it's all the same plays that were implemented. Nothing about this offense is changing tomorrow

If the team puts up a 'W' AND looks competent w/o Nagy on the sidelines tomorrow, would that be the house that needs to fall on mgnt? Or do we need a bigger house....maybe a three flat? LOFL!
