Minnesota Vikings lead series 60-56-2
JAYLON JOHNSON vs JUSTIN JEFFERSON
While neither the Bears or the Vikings are considered top teams in the league right now, they can boast two of the top rookies of season with the two of them possibly in direct competition for a national audience. Jefferson leads the receiver draft class with 627 yards. Johnson leads the entire NFL with 12 passes defended, allowing just over 46% of the passes thrown at him to be completed. Who will it be? Unstoppable force or immovable object?
ALLEN ROBINSON vs JEFF GLADNEY
The Vikings have their own highly-drafted cornerback in Gladney, but his rookie year has been almost the complete polar opposite of Johnson. Opposing quarterbacks have a 128.2 passer rating when throwing in his direction and he’s allowed five touchdowns. To say the Bears offense stalled in Nashville may be the biggest understatement of the year. To get back on track, the Bears are going to need a big game from their star receiver. This is a huge mismatch that Matt Nagy will almost have to exploit to pull his offense out of it's current tailspin.
NICK FOLES vs MIKE ZIMMER
Foles has had a rocky start to his career in Chicago. Nowhere near as mobile as his predecessor at the position, the Bears OL woes have just been magnified, causing the 31 year old QB to struggle to find any rythm beyond isolated drives. However, this could be a great "get right" week for Foles. Minnesota's pass defense has been every bit as dreadful as the Bears offense. Through eight games, they rank 29th in the NFL, giving up nearly 413 yards per game through the air. Keep in mind the last time Foles played against the Zimmer led Viking defense, he completed 26 of 33 passes for 352 yards and three touchdowns in the 2017 NFC title game. Can Foles exploit Zimmer's struggling defense or can Zimmer stave off the hot seat with three straight divison wins after a 1-5 start?
Vikings star running back has rushed for 369 yards with five rushing TDs in his last two games, but in three games against the Bear defense, Cook is averaging 28.7 yards per game...good for 2.53 yards per carry and has yet to have a rushing TD against them.
