JA'MARR CHASE vs DAN SORENSEN
If the Chiefs were not familiar with the phenomenal season rookie Ja'Marr Chase was having, they sure got caught up in a hurry in a season finale where the rookie abused the Chiefs to the tune of eleven catches for over two hundred yards. You imagine Burrow is going to keep going to Chase until the Chiefs prove they can stop that connection, which is going to have to take another big turnaround for struggling defensive back Dan Sorensen. He too often let Chase get behind him before the ball was even in the air, once for a highlight reel touchdown by the rookie receiver. Can Spagnuolo's defense have an answer this time around for Ja'Marr Chase that does not involve being eaten alive by all the other weapons Joe Burrow has on his offense?
ISAIAH PRINCE vs MELVIN INGRAM III
As good an the Bengal offense can be, it is still severely hamstrung along it's offensive line. Particularly long it's right side, home of tackle Isaiah Prince, who spent most of his previous weekend getting beat down by the Titans as his QB was sacked nine times in the upset road victory. It will not get any easier this week as Ingram was in Josh Allen's face early and often, notching a sack and forcing a fumble. Can this struggling unit keeping Burrow upright long enough to move on to their first Super Bowl in over 30 years or will Arrowhead Stadium be too big a stage for the struggling linemen?
DONTAE JOHNSON vs ODELL BECKHAM JR
Based on past struggles, the Niners are going to be doing everything they can to slow down the league's leading receiver in Cooper Kupp. That's going to leave Matthew Stafford with a lot of one on one looks for late season acquisition, Odell Beckham, who has played better each week on his new offense. T he Rams will likely look for ways to match him up on cornerback Dontae Johnson, who gave up five catches on five targets for 74 yards in their last matchup. Stepping in for Ambry Thomas, he gave up five of six targets for 109 yards. With ten catches this postseason, the resurgent Beckham could be the key to the Rams finally beating the Niners this season...when it matters the most.
JIMMY GAROPPOLO vs THE WORLD
Garoppolo has done just enough to make it this far, but not enough to win a conference championship. With no touchdown passes, a pick in each game and a highly drafted rookie waiting behind him...this may be the quarterback's last chance to prove he belongs on this big of a stage. However, Garoppolo has a history of playing well against the Rams, he has a 71.7 Total QBR and won all six starts against them, and Los Angeles does still have questions up the middle of their defense, allowing a 77% completion rate and 7.9 yards per attempt on throws inside the numbers this season. With a weapon like Deebo Samuel salivating at that stat, can Garoppolo deliver and put his crtics to rest...for at least another week.
