Not a big panini fanboi because I dont want to bleed from the roof of my mouth but i do like wrapping a boulder in foil and smashing a Cuban sammie.

If I have to sacrifice the roof of my mouth for crunchy perfection, small price to pay.

If you live in DuPage County and want an Italian sub, you go to Augustino's, tell'em 51 sent you.

This is gonna take at least a week because so many sandwiches. I like to eat so many different ones and have made 1000s of different ones. Banh mi and poorboys alone have so many goat variations. Then open faced? Hot browns, French and german and Baltic variations. Subs? Wow. I think I might make a top five that omits obv goats like Italian beef and grilled cheese and BLTs with heirloom tomatoes and lobster rolls. What about Thanksgiving leftover sammies? This is gonna be difficult.

A hotdog is not a sandwich, and nobody anywhere should ever, ever use the phrase "hot dog sandwich" again.

No sane human being has ever referred to a "hot dog sandwich".

I've always found pastrami to be the most sensual of the salty cured meats.

I was joking, because that was a huge debate at one point here.

Is that a “hot dog sandwich”?
No. No it is not.

I would never ever use “burrito sandwich”, bor have I ever heard anyone say that before.

But even if someone does, two wrongs don’t make a right.

My first pastrami sandwich -at Yogi’s Hoagies at EIU - is still a fond memory. :)

I am still upset with Jimmy John for opening his first location and putting Yogi’s out of business.

Italian Beef
Reuben
Hot Pastrami sandwich
French Dip
Italian Sub

I often will get a cheesesteak, and almost always come away disappointed as though it “just wasn’t a very good one”. But they just don’t stack up against other sandwiches, though it seems they should.

Italian Beef is a category unto itself, and thus should not be included in this thread. Never would I disrespect the Italian Beef by including it with such lesser sandwiches.

nvan,
Are tacos and burritos sandwiches? That could change my list.

- Cheddar Bacon Breakfast Panini from Corner Bakery
- Roast Beef Sandwich from Schmaltz Delicatessen
- Classic Homemade PB and J on Wheat
- Double Bacon Cheeseburger with the works (preferably homemade)
- Italian Beef and Sausage Combo with giardiniera (I like Jewel-Osco Hot Sausage on Gonnella French Roll with Buona Beef)

I don't think they are. But there probably will be disagreements.
