You weigh the injury risk vs the need for more live game reps, and we all hope that the coaches did this calculation correctly. A player can get hurt week one just as easily. It is what it is. I prefer seeing a new offense get more live reps instead playing it safe and hoping shit comes together week one.

...exactly. If guys get hurt in a "meaningless" game, folks will complain how idiotic it was to play them.... but if they rest guys and then come out looking like shit week one, folks will complain they didn't get enough snaps in preseason.

Just have to play things out the best they can.

So you’re saying Bears fans will complain?

Seems accurate.

People worried about preseason injuries like Bears are the superbowl champs returning with all their starters not a team in rebuild installing new offensive and defensive schemes with new starters at many positions.

Exactly. If we are to improve at football, we gotta play football.

These dudes need to play and play together. Remember when Nagy was questioning the efficacy of the preseason and had his team do a "live Practice". That shit was club Med, I mean did those fucks ever look prepared?

Play the starters for a half and let them gel. Use the second half to see who the final roster is and let some young guys get some tape.

They have a couple of weeks to heal. They'll be fine.

But you never want to see preseason injuries. Those are the worst to lose players in practice games.
Definitely agree with you, but just stating that same injury that happens in the last preseason game can happen in week 1. The starting offense has had like 4 possessions so far against opposing defenses. They need more practice than that to be ready for week 1.

I understand wanting to use both Smith and Fields for most of the first half, but where do you draw the line with preseason injury concerns???
Yeah, injury risk will always be a concern, but to me, bears are in a situation where taking that risk is justified

This team needs every rep it can get

Gon be several games into the season before things really start coming together as it is
