I don't recall the Bears having this many OL in for the offseason before. Are there any hopeful to stick in the list of spares?

James Daniels 68 OL 6-4 295 21 2 Iowa

Rashaad Coward 69 OL 6-6 320 24 2 Old Dominion

Cody Whitehair 65 OL 6-4 310 26 4 Kansas State

Charles Leno Jr. 72 OL 6-3 306 27 6 Boise State

Kyle Long 75 OL 6-6 316 30 7 Oregon

Bobby Massie 70 OL 6-6 317 29 8 Mississippi

Sam Mustipher 67 OL 6-3 306 22 R Notre Dame

Marquez Tucker 71 OL 6-4 291 22 R Southern Utah

Alex Bars 64 OL 6-6 312 23 R Notre Dame

Blake Blackmar 63 OL 6-5 326 23 R Baylor

Joe Lowery 74 OL 6-7 310 23 R Ohio

Jordan McCray 60 OL 6-3 320 27 1 Central Florida

T.J. Clemmings 79 OL 6-5 309 27 5 Pittsburgh

Cornelius Lucas 73 OL 6-9 328 27 5 Kansas State

Ted Larsen 62 OL 6-3 323 32 10 North Carolina State

Edited to put Goldman back on defense where he belongs.

we're keeping 8 offensive linemen for the 53 man roster no doubt.

Expect to see Bars on the PS. Lowery and Mustipher might as well.

Who was I thinking of? Number is even defense. I thought I heard Coward was getting moved again and spent time trying to confirm or deny that, didn't even question including Goldman. I wish I could blame being stoned but I can't.

I was wondering if there was a Hiestand reason for 2 ND rookies.
I've been told there wasn't much to pick from to fix the oline this year. I guess bringing in 9 spares is one way to deal with it.

Looking at the vets I don't any obvious replacements for who we have so I'm not expecting any upgrades. Although maybe upgrades to Witzmann and Kush so depth might improve. Hope there's a sleeper in the rookies.

Bears are hoping to take their pick of the shit-litter. This unit is going to be rough.... not only will the starters be average at best, but the Bears will be paper thin across the line as well.

Perhaps they'll actually draft a lineman for once next season, who knows. This is what you get when you go 5 years straight drafting only 3 linemen total in that time, one of which being Hroniss Grasu. The bears haven't even attempted to draft an OT since Tayo Fabuluje (who?!?) in the 6th round of the 2015 draft, literally 5 years ago. That's just gross.

Bars doesn't look too bad. Seems to have a good head for the run game in his highlights. If he could take any of what I saw to an NFL level I'd say there's been worse starters on the Bears.

Mustipher is hard to say since I only seem to be able to find him when he's at center and that would be 2 injuries down the road.

Nobody else stood out to me of the rookies. The quality of ND highlights probably played a part in that.

Daniels last year.

Throw 9 turds at the fan and see what sticks. We have to at least be equal to last year with 9 options. They aren't exactly huge shoes to fill.

Interesting analysis. I heard the early returns have been fantastic, as all 9 have looked good in camp.

Analysis based on 9 chances to replace Witzmann and Kush. I think it can be done.

How many chances at kicker to not be worse than Parkey? :ROFLMAO:

Daniels last year.
Huh? He was included in my calculations...

Unless you're addressing my OT comment, but that would be disturbing considering Daniels plays center/guard.

Nagy and CO know TE/Oline is a concern so that Sowell to TE makes more sense now. At least they will have more depth at offensive line.

Agree about drafting one, you should never go a draft without taking a shot at the trenches on both sides, but on defense I think our interior line is pretty damn good, so it makes even less sense why they have not drafted O-line on a more constant basis.

Daniel appears to be a good pick (let see how he does at center) and Whitehair has panned out, so it appears they are not totally incapable of finding talented linemen.

I know it is a "longshot" but when he was healthy, he played at a Probowl level. Leno and Massie are not perfect, but they are a FAR cry from some of the crap that we have had at Left and Right Tackle.

If the line can stay healthy, I think they will be good, but the probability of having the same 5 starters all year long just is not a good one, and the depth on the roster is not inspiring.... We will likely struggle at some point in the season with the O-line because of depth.

we need bodies to play the preseason schedule, we know that the starters rarely play here.

About 15% of your final roster are O-linemen; 15% of 90 man pre-season roster =14; Bears have 15 on the roster right now; seems about right and requires no further thought...
