THREE straight head coach hires at LSU won national championships. Georgia last won one decades ago.
8 four + loss seasons
Vs
12 three - loss seasons

Like I said.....hit or miss last 20 years

At best its a neutral move for Kelly where he's hoping to be one of the top 3 in his own conf each year vs being at ND and on the cusp of the playoffs every season as an independent

It's obviously much easier to recruit to LSU because of lower academic requirements. Louisiana also puts out probably as many top recruits per capita as any state in the US and they tend to be more loyal to the state than average. I wonder how Kelly will do in that environment though. The culture is so different from what he's experienced. But to hit on a couple huge classes and have the talent to compete with the big dogs for a season or two is there more than at ND, at least for Kelly. Looks like Marcus Freeman is going to be able to stack classes at ND, but he is a much more dynamic recruiter than Kelly.

Swarbrick said Kelly didn't even ask him to match salaries. So it might have been about money but there is no evidence of that.

Honestly this may work out best for both schools.
