Any buyer's remorse on Foles seeing how cheap Cam was signed? If you were thinking get a 1st round QB next year then Cam was a cheap option.

Keep in mind, we gave up a 4th and a lot of money for Foles. I'm not looking at details right now because the site is so dead.

Only if he balls out.

i was against trading for him but definitely would’ve taken the shot on him as a FA. Will be real interesting to see how he does. If he wins a superbowl...might be another chicago fire

Cam is a major question mark.

The point of getting foles was that he really isn't. You know what he is. Good enough to win with. Thats what this team needs if and when Mitch shits the bed.

Can't waste another year of this defense. Foles was prob the best option in FA imo

Nah. Major selling point was Foles’ familiarity with the O in the case of a shortened off season program. Cam also has some pretty big accuracy issues, we don’t need 2 of those QBs.

The Bears couldn't have gotten Cam on such a cheap contract and Foles is healthier and has a better understanding of our system. Cam is only like a one year guy, but if Foles works out he can be the franchise. Foles really was the best option we had.

I'm happy for Cam and hope he succeeds, as I'm a big fan of him, but I'm also glad that the Bears went with Foles.

Thats because he could not be and stay healthy. People were not just hitting Newton like the hit Mike Vick, they were steam rolling superman.
Probably the one coach and GM Cam will listen to might be Belicheck

Not really. Foles is a fit and Belechick will fit his O to Cam if he starts. Great situation for Cam and I'm happy for him. He was also not guaranteed to start on a 1 year deal. He may not have been ready to take that sort of deal until now.

I never thought, even in his prime, that Cam was a great or even a good player. He had one nice season and that was it. Now he hasn't played in great offenses, I will give him that.

Cam Newton Career QBR: 86.1
Mitch Trubisky Career QBR: 85.8

If you look at just the last 3 years Mitch has a better QBR over that time period.

I don't believe Cam on a prove-it deal was even an option for the Bears, so I don't see this as a realistic alternative to what they did. If I was a QB trying to prove I could still play in the NFL, Bears are on my "no chance in hell" list. I don't expect Cam to be better than Foles in 20-21, but obviously the much cheaper price tag is nice.

Those trying to convince themselves that the Foles signing was better than going for Cam is comical at this point.

I'm in the UK and accept my knowledge of the NFL is limited, but would it not be fair to say that it's highly unlikely that the Bears will pay Foles $21 million.

I assume even if he 'balls out' his contract would be restructured

It's not reality. Nick Foles already did restructure his contract. He's on a 3 year 24 million dollar contract now. Not a 21m contract like before. His contract is 8m. A good deal considering he's a top flight backup.

Yeah, if Cam stays healthy, it was a mistake not to get him. I don't know why people hate Cam so much, but I really enjoyed him. That being said, he used his body like a power running back for the course of his career. It would not surprise me if he never stayed healthy for a 16 game season. But it also wouldn't surprise me if he won MVP
