Wow! One game gets stopped yet the survey doesn't allow 0 to be a possible answer.

We got Tuesday and Wednesday games during the pandemic to keep from cancelling.

Has the NFL just created themselves another shitstorm with the way they handled this entire situation? Just cancelling games halfway through the first quarter?
Is it an issue? Yes--but I don't give a shit about gambling or your parlays, so just canceling a game was the right thing to do, especially when you saw Buffalo players not want to play/cinci guys kneeling/praying with them. I can understand (but feel zero sympathies for) gamblers who are mad about their pre-season bets from sportsbooks now being screwed because its tied to 17 games and the NFL just fucked a bunch of people's bets on two popular contending teams.

The bigger shitstorm IMO was Joe Buck saying live that play will resume in 5 minutes before cutting to shots of bengals players warming up on the sidelines before Troy Vincent came out and tried to peddle horseshit that the NFL never said that.

I didn't much understand the context of why players were leaving the field because I wasn't watching the game live, I was at work. once I saw the video of it actually happening it was like casual dumbasses call this "OMG!!111 a violent sport!!!", right? but nobody actually dies in football, right? so I could understand players being spooked by the whole thing.

and it doesn't matter if people didn't know who he was before. I'm glad something positive came from it and his toy drive got a ton more money.

beyond all that, trying a little too hard to be contrarian for the cheap heat here, Douche?

Yes, it's a dangerous precedent. Is the NFL just going to cancel the game every time a player dies on the field a week and a half before the playoffs begin?

I shudder to think of the reverberations for years to come.

You must be a troll because there is no way that you are this stupid. Your first post is literally the dumbest shit ive read on here in a long, long time and thats saying a lot.
What a waste of time and bits this response was, it added nothing whatsoever to this discussion.

Institutional paralysis. Nobody wanted to make a decision about continuing the game for fear that shrill online losers who are never been nor will ever be the NFL's core audience would "drag" with other misanthropes it on social media websites. The NFL just put off making a call until enough time passed that the possible ways to resolve the game shrank to zero. The precedent now is that there is no precedent.

A lot of institutions do this. Afraid of what people gonna say on the puter, like bro just turn off the screen and it all goes away. Twitter people can't hurt you.

Are you sure you aren't overthinking this?

@Novak - the precedent now is there is no precedent!

Now that Hamlin is basically out the weeds and en route to a successful recovery, I wanted to pose a question that's been weighing on my mental

Has the NFL just created themselves another shitstorm with the way they handled this entire situation? Just cancelling games halfway through the first quarter?

Not only does this greatly screw over the fans who bought tickets to see your product in action, but it's a slippery slope in general. What is stopping any team going forward to not try and have a game cancelled due to a "serious injury" once they are losing 49-10? They can literally just site this fucked up mess as the precedent. They could have chosen to move Hamlin off the field and continue the game like they did for all previous injuries (remember how Knox had the back of his shoulders touch his ankles and business continued) but instead they chose to basically weaponize Twitter emotions and fake care virtue signaling, and now who can blame other teams for trolling the heartstrings for free cancellations? They did this shit to themselves.

Over/under on cancelled or attempt to cancel games is set at 3.5 games next season. Exciting stuff!
You're a complete idiot. Not even worth explaining why.
