Ozuna's situation in ATL could be interesting to the cubs

So for those who are unaware, Ozuna was arrested and charged with Agg. Assault. Assuming he gets suspended which seems pretty likely at this point, the money he is owed comes off their books for the length of that suspension. Why that is potentially interesting as it pertains to the cubs is because he's making $16,000,000 this year and Atlanta clearly hopes to be strong contenders in the playoffs. Atlanta is also currently 24-26 and has got nothing out of LF this year with Ozuna having a 80 wRC+ and Inciarte having a 65 wRC+. The cubs have 2 players who if they decide to deal are on one year deals and could fill that LF void in Joc and Bryant. And Atlanta has the pieces in their minor league system to go after that sort of deal.

I thought about that. Atlanta can effectively void that deal now, or at least make it non-guaranteed. My buddy is a cop in Sandy Springs and got the call but he was making a DUI arrest at the time. He said that it was even worse than reported

thing is Joc wouldn’t help Atlanta much. He has a negative WAR right now for the season. Bryant obviously would help them immensely

If we are to trade KB, while in first place, it would send a bad signal to the rest of the team. We would have to trade for a prospect that is blocked on the major league team and is ready to play right away.
