Pagano has the talent and its clear to anyone watching this defense has underperformed this season. I can see giving Pagano another year if thats what you mean but i personally have seen enough of Pagano.

I wouldnt mind both Nagy and Pagano gone, but I dont see how you can argue for Nagy deserving to be safe and only firing Pagano when Pagano handed Nagy and the Bears several games that they should have won. Pagano held the Colts and Vikings (1st game) below 20 points and held the Saints to 23 points in regulation and we lost all 3 of those games. Pagano is not the reason why we are 8-7, there have been enough good defensive performances this season for the team to have 10 wins by now. Out of 15 games played, defense has had a few bad games but enough good games to get you 10 wins and yet we are barely .500.

The Bears should be solidly in the playoffs.

Also Nagy was brought in to be an offensive guru, yet the offense only got better when he gave up playing calling so what is Nagy's purpose on the team? Nagy arguably is the reason why we are .500,

Pagano isn't as much of an issue as some of you people think he is....

the run game would be bad no matter who we got as a DC because goldman is out. We don't really have a nose tackle.....

In the pass game, he's dealt with one of the worst safeties in the league this year(Eddie Jackson), and one of the worst slot cb's in the league(Skrine), all the while having some of the least pressures in the league thanks to a terrible signing of robert quinn and having zero good pass rushing depth really.

You can blame the coaches, but at some point, someone besides mack/fuller/quan have to ball out on that defense.

Eddie Jackson has been terrible, outside of JJ and fuller we have no corners really. There is zero pass rush. We cant stop the run.

The better question is did Vic make that talent? Jackson has seemingly dropped to being terrible. We went from having the best slot CB in the league to the worst. Went from having 4 good ILB's to having one.

Mack is also having the worst season of his career pressure wise, so that doesn't help.

I think Jackson is a really interesting case study of why Pagano should be gone for 2021. Pagano is supposed to be a secondary specialist. The majority of his coaching career was being a secondary coach. He was only a DC for 1 year in Baltimore with a ridiculous amount of talent on that defense before getting the HC gig in Indy.

So, he comes here with actually not a lot of experience as an actual DC but a ton of experience coaching defensive backs. He has managed to take an All-Pro safety and turn him into just another guy. Now, I am not saying that Eddie himself has no blame, but this defensive coaching staff has not really schemed their players into getting the most out of them.
