Talked to my insider.

Poles isnt as worried about the Oline as most. Says draft focus should be on defense. While he wont avoid adding olinemen or O, its understood that if a better defender via the board is there, hes probably going to grab them. Especially along the line.

Pole said the the secondary did okay last year and the rookies improved, but believes they are missing a ballhawk. Likes the incoming CB class as a whole. Really likes E Forbes out of Miss St. Noncommittal on JJ at this point in time. Its on JJ to secure the bag.

Poles noted that the Bears defense was last in the league in points. That 7 games lost were one score games. Adding DJ Moore was huge in Poles mind. With DJ, perhaps 3.5 of those games are won by the Bears. Yall remember the WR letting field downs at the end of games. Improving the D and thats another 3.5. 10 win team.

Poles was happy Billings signed but says DT isnt finished. He said Billings and Walkers all round ability will help shore up the 31st ranked run Defense. Sprinkling in the sure fire tacklers in Edmunds and Edwards, the run D has already improved on paper. Pole and Flus have been barking they need to get after the QB

Did mention hes taking a look at some WRs. With Claypool and Mooney money coming up, he may add a Rookie WR higher than many think, just to have them in position to replace whomever doesnt get the bag next year. Also noted that MHJR would be the target next year if team projections are exceeded this coming year. - lets hope that panthers pick is top 3.

Likes the TE class a lil too.

Sure hes looking at every position, cause its the Jay Oh Bee, but Poles is in the process of hyper focusing x amount of prospects per range. With Defense littering the ranks. DEf happy where hes positioned himself since FA.. doesnt have to take purely on need.

This actually sounds like legitimate information based on what we have seen from Poles in just over a year's time.
Yeah I didn’t expect to read this at all from AussieBear

This is crazy and stupid enough that its entirely realistic Ryan Poles believes it. DeMarcus Walker and Andrew Billings are going to shore you up into being the thirty-second ranked run defnese more than anything.

Checks out.

Tell your BFF - Poles I mostly agree with this but seriously doubt he mentioned MHJR directly to you, would love it if true. Tell him to get JSN this year and MHJR next and we are set for years, Bengals and Chiefs 2.0.

Depends on how the draft falls, but was told roster casualties are also on the radar. Im hearing Poles likes a few Centers in the class. Dunno if he'll pull the trigger on a top OL guy, cause he may believe hes the smartest guy in the room according to my source. Given his decent find with Braxton, you cant fault BIG POLE syndrome. BUT, he's going to do his homework on the OL at the top of the draft.

OLines take time to develop so a few of beef blocks will get time to gel.

Worst case, Bears end up with semi washup retreads weeks before camp if the draft goes sideways n their big board is shat on.

And then rookie QBs take time and if we don't protect Fields in his 3rd year we can assume he's probably not going to be healthy enough to prove it in his 4th. So his 4th year should be used to bring a rookie QB in. With the trade down we're set up perfect for that and being the year before a draft the '24 QBs are great, at least until February of '24.
