I actually agree with the article. Everyone is excited to see what Fields can do, but let's progress at a pace that maximizes long term success.
FWIW, Andy was pretty good while he was in there. That's not some claim that he's better or it's an open competition. I'm just saying with the way that game turned out I'm pretty confident that the team could have also won if Dalton took all the snaps.

Right but are we trying to win games? Let’s be honest here Andy played better than Justin. That’s not saying Fields can’t win games but who gives us the best chance to win Sunday? All off season it was play the better player, now it’s not.

Being the better player is different than getting better results in one game. Just like it was wrong to blame the 1st game on Dalton, it's wrong to assume that Fields is exactly what we saw last Sunday or will be that next Sunday.

It's laughable to suggest Nagy hasn't tried to emulate Reid throughout his time with the bears including the Field situation. Nagy even mentioned Mahomes and Smith several times to the media when discussing Fields' development. The fact that it wasn't 100% the same doesn't make it less true that he was trying to follow the same formula. Had Smith got injured there's a good chance Reid would have eventually went to Mahomes as well as the starter.
