then he can leave it for FA....fine. The White Sox could use a 1B.

It's smart to tank. That is how Chicago teams win championships.

Theo Epstein tanked hard his first 3 years with the Cubs.
Blackhawks do not select Kane #1 and Toes 3rd overall had they not tanked.
White Sox are in their <window> due to tanking.

With fan attendance being what it is due to covid the timing is perfect. Trade Baez, Rizzo and Bryant for prospects.

I would think that 1 game is not enough info to dictate a tank job.

This is a clear overreaction to a loss. Pure and simple. If they won then this would not have been the flavor of the day.

What we can take from opening day? The players go from summer weather to bitter cold playing conditions. The staff had command issues. The team struck out a lot. So there are issues to sort out. But it is one game and they have the day off to figure it out and be competitive tomorrow.

That is what you expect. No team goes 162-0. But you expect a competitive team. Even when it went wrong the scrapped together a offense.

I'm just going to sit back and see the progress and sure in June they are under .500 then yep Jed will most likely will be fielding calls.

To add to it Kyle Hendricks has not been locked in yet this year. All spring he has not looked like the staff ace at all. So this outting is not shocking. 6.39 ERA and avg 3.1 IP per start in ST is on par with Thursday.

The 4 starters have all been limited to 3-4 IP per start. So we are talking about 60 pitches out of the gate. Kyle threw 63 so there is a limit in place right now. Kuhl also had 63 pitches so the Cubs were not unique.
