Saw a report that mets were wanting to move betances or familia which would be an interesting way of offsetting some of Bryant's money. Cubs are light on relievers.

I think you hold Bryant until the TDL and hope he rebounds. You’d be selling very low at this point, but at the same time, you also risk that there will even be a TDL this year.

This might become interesting. Ok they signed Jake that puts the staff to 6 guys. The Mets have J.D. Davis who the Cubs want. The Mets need a established starter after missing out on Bauer and want to move either Betances or Familia.

So the numbers look like:

Bryant 19,500,000 (drops in 2022)
Familia 11,666,667 (drops in 2022)
J.D. Davis 2,100,000 (3 years of control)

So this is a 5,733,333 price change going on.
Say the Cubs add Davies to the deal. (realistic) 8,630,000 ( drops off at the end of the year)

The Cubs would be ahead 14,363,333

A controversial solution would be to take on Cano. That is nothing this year but 22-23 owed 24mil each. This could give NYM the leverage to resign Bryant long term. Cubs should be able to increase payroll in 22 and taking on this deal is not that bad looking at it.
