They'll have to figure out what to do with LaHair when they bring Rizzo up.
LeHair will move to the OF.

He's played LF/RF before.

Soriano's knee is busted as hell too right now.

You'll see LeHair start taking at bats from DeJesus and Soriano. Plus the Cubs are hoping for Soriano to get hot and :troll: some AL team into wanting to trade for him.

Once Rizzo is up the OF will be Campana in CF with LeHair in RF or LF depending on Sori's day off. DeJesus' playing time is about to go the way of the dodo.

The best possible thing, while Brett Jackson is still trying to not strike out, is for DeJesus to continue leading off and posting a good OBP. He's got the more affordable and team-friendly contract. If he can be moved, then LaHair can stand in RF and they can bring Rizzo up around mid- to late-June when they can (hopefully) guarantee the extra year of control.

I think you'll start seeing Campana slid to the lead off spot. Barney to the two slot. Castro 3. LaHair 4. Then the middle of the order turns into odd combinations of Rizzo, Soriano, Stewart, DeJesus etc based on who has the day off.

It's going to be a cluster.

Are you spelling Brian's last name wrong on purpose?

I wouldn't be surprised. Campana is a sparkplug if he can get on base, but that is the problem, I fear.

I want Castro to hit 2. He seems more comfortable there and a better hitter. Also, Soriano needs to be on an AL team. He cannot play OF anymore. Here's the lineup I say the Cubs use when Rizzo is called up:

Mine:
CF Tony Campana
SS Starlin Castro
1B Anthony Rizzo
LF Brian LaHair
RF David DeJesus
3B Ian Stewart
2B Darwin Barney
C Whoever (if Lalli or Hill, if other's bat 7th and Barney 8th)
P Pitcher

What Sveum's may be:
RF David Dejesus
CF Tony Campana
SS Starlin Castro
1B Anthony Rizzo
LF Brian LaHair
3B Ian Stewart
2B Darwin Barney
C Whoever
P Pitcher

Yes I would have 3 lefties in a roll and see how that goes. I know it would not be good when a lefty specialist comes in, but lefties can hit lefties! That's not my lineup, but I think Sveum will have a lineup like that.

1. I don't count Ian Stewart because he sucks.

2. Wut?!

Lefties: Campana, LaHair, Rizzo, Stewart (still starting 3B), DeJesus, Maholm and Wood if pitching, Hill vs righty (for now until injuries are gone) Clevenger if starting. Potential of 7 staters are lefties if game allows it to be.

Righties: Castro and Barney.

But right now, it could be 5 starters. Make sense?

No this statement still does not make sense:
"The team will a lefty team at some point"

More lefty friendly than righty friendly. As their will be more players who are lefty in the regular line-up than righties.

I think he's trying to lefty-load the lineup, which isn't exactly the best idea. You want to space them out a bit to avoid the LOOGYs late in the game. You also want to keep a couple on the bench for matchups.

I believe for the most part you just put the best hitters in the lineup regardless of handedness, but lefty-loading or righty-loading a lineup bugs me because it's just so imbalanced.

Seems like Sveum is hinting that Rizzo could be up for interleague play when the Cubs could use a DH. If that happens it would be too soon in terms of service time. So you might see Rizzo up in early June and sent down for a weeks to guarantee the extra year of control.

Sveum in the Trib:
‘‘It’s definitely something that we’re going to talk about, probably around the beginning of June or interleague play when we need the DH and those kinds of things,’’ said Sveum, who two weeks ago said the ‘‘logical’’ move would involve right fielder David DeJesus moving to center to open a corner outfield spot for LaHair.

The Cubs’ first interleague road series is June 8-10 in Minnesota. The only other series in which they will need a designated hitter is June 18-20 against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field.

Sveum made one thing clear before anybody suggests that Rizzo should play the outfield.

‘‘I think he’s a huge asset at first base,’’ Sveum said. ‘‘A left-handed first baseman, and he’s really, really good over there.

‘‘I don’t think we’d move him around at all.’’

See ya Campana

That Of defense would be brutal with Soriano and LaHair in the corners with DeJesus in center. As far as Rizzo staying up if he is called up in early June, I'm not certain I'm a fan of losing that year of control for a few weeks of production in a lost season.

Rizzo was up last year for a while.

I've seen all this talk about Rizzo's "clock starting" but I believe it started last year didn't it?
