Broncos signed LE Derek Wolfe to a four-year, $36.7 million extension.
That keeps Wolfe in Denver through 2019. The deal comes with $17.5 million guaranteed. Wolfe missed the Broncos' first four games while serving a PED suspension but went on to have a breakout season with 49 tackles and 5.5 sacks. He was the AFC's Defensive Player of the Week for Week 8 and earned PFF's 10th-highest grade among 3-4 defensive ends.

Someone valuable is getting to free agency from that defense. Hopefully they like Fox and are willing to come to a rebuilding team!

Jackson is the better player. I wonder what he'll get contract wise.

+1

Malik Jackson is very intriguing. A real disruptor in the pass game. If the Bears FA strategy is to try & cherry pick the unsung heroes of solid/great defenses, (i.e. McPhee), this would be the move to make. Pair the signing with an #11 overall selection of A'Shawn Robinson and you have your starting DL for several years.

Robinson | Goldman | Jackson

Out of the 4 Broncos I wanted, this is the guy I wanted the least so I am glad they resigned him. At least one of Miller, Jackson or Trevathan will become available and I hope Fox is there to scoop them up.

There's Williams, Wilkerson and Richardson from the Jets the Jets can't afford all three. Broncos need a QB next year, Marshall, Trevation, Miller, and Jackson are all FAs. How can the Broncos afford all of them after paying Miller and have too much money locked up already. At other positions. The Broncos will lose people. Just which ones.

Damn it.

Move on to Trevathan and Jackson.

Jackson is probably in the 5 years 50 million/25 guaranteed range. Corey Ligiut/Mike Daniels comp.

Would Brandon Marshall ILB from the Broncos be a lockerroom cancer?

No, but he's an restricted free when so he's most likely not going anywhere.

Hopefully Trevathan or Jackson make it to the market. Either one would be great pickups.

I'd be happy with Jackson (or Thornton, Harrison or Howard) and Trevathan

The important one is Trevathan making it to free agency.

There are a number of 5 techniques who can play in free agency, less ILBs.

dont see trevathan making it to free agency unless he really wants to leave or be the highest paid ILB in the NFL.
broncos cut manning, ware, colquitt - free up additional 32 mill to have total cap space of 52mill
wolfe is due 12 mill for 2016
rookie draft pool 5 mill
miller tag - 14 mill
52mill - 31mill = 21 mill
21 mill left to resign guys like trevathan, osweiler, jackson, bruton etc...
cant see osweiler getting a long term deal, prob 2yr or 3yr deal to prove his worth.

If they cut Manning as you suggest (which I think they will) then Osweiler has a very good negotiating position. He won't be that cheap. Plenty of other teams would pay up for him. 3 years maybe (understandably not 5) but I'd imagine that eats into a lot of their remaining cap room don't you think?
