Well, I believe everything is on the table when it comes to humor, but if you can't land the joke you have to deal with the consequences. That post doesn't read as satirical at all. Either dude is a racist, or a very unfunny person who just posted some racist dumb edgelord joke. So I stand by my assertion that he may go fuck himself.

Well humor is subjective and often times dependent on knowing the person involved especially when told over the internet. Many of us know Numbers and his politics from the B&I forum whereas you are relatively new here. But I will bow out and he can chime in if he returns to this thread.

How about the Washington Reds?

It would please both sides. Red (states) has been associated with Republican. And Reds also has the political connotation for socialist.

I kind of like Tomahawks, Cherokees, Redhawks, Redwolves, Pigskins and Warriors. In all these cases, you don't have to change the logo... well, maybe have to change it for the Pigskins. = p

I took it as satirical, like the post that read, "The Onion recently ran a story that the Washington Redskins were changing their name....to the DC Redskins." But maybe you have to know him as not being racist for it to be obvious.

Yeah for me the point of sarcasm is not to have to point it out so I have never used green font when being sarcastic. Sort of defeats the purpose as you sort of what someone to be taken aback/shocked by the statement and then upon realizing who said it have that aha moment that it was not meant to be taken literally. I do think though sarcasm sort of requires some familiarity between people to pull off especially on the internet.

Sure ya gotta kinda know the poster. However, when ya come outta of the blue, doing black-face and associating it with "darkies".....that's a bit much. And it darn sure requires context.
I just didn't see the joke or the sarcasm as it related to the picking a new name for Washington.

I saw people making jokes about the new name being "lobbyists", " Dicks ", Antifas ", "crooks" etc. I get it. I see the context and the humor element. The "darkies" title had no relevance, no context, no humor. It was racially risque' and inappropriate overall .....IMO

That exact meme has been used several times over the years as part of this debate. I have seen it on here and elsewhere.

It is racist that is the point. If you react so strongly to that meme but then defend the use of the term Redskin and people making light of Native American traditions and culture then the intent is for you to evaluate why that is.

This wouldn't be a debate if America hadn't basically committed genocide against Native Americans. This racism against Native Americans is allowed to go on unchecked because they are marginalized and only like 1% of the population. If black people were just 1% of the population with little political power, we would probably already have a team called the Darkies or something else racially offensive because white people wouldn't be shamed enough to change it for 1% of the population.

There is really no excuse for this to still be a topic in 2020 and as a black man I am a bit embarrassed that black people as a collective haven't fought harder for this until now as we wouldn't stand for this shit if it was us being marginalized hence the point of the meme.

We should ask ourselves why it took black and white people being upset in the wake of George Floyd to make this happen when over 50 Native organizations had already spoken out about their disproval over the years. It is a fundamental problem with the system that change can only happen not to appease the group offended but only when formerly disinterested groups with enough political clout decide no more.
