I disagree. They aren't good enough...though the current group shows a few signs of life to build around easier.

I was maybe most jealous this year of the Lions getting Sewell. Thats a pro-bowl LT for a decade and he's going to road grade the fuck out of us in Chicago for years.

The Dolphins were the biggest failure to me. Missing on PItts/Chase after trade up, and then forcing the issue instead of taking Sewell.
Luckily he went to Detroit who will just waste him. Had he gone to Green Bay or Minnesota I would be truly bummed.

Same. I don't mind Wilson, and the only reason I wanted the Bears to get him was because there was a point that he realistically could fall. But then his hype went out of control and Fields started falling, and I was like, anyone that passes on JF after the Jags are making a mistake.
I'm still giddy over the execution of the trade up and the Bears making the right move and grabbing Fields.

If the 2022 QB class is poor, than the price can't be bad. We have a chance to give up a LT level top 5 pick this year, but it is what it is.

Woudn't do us any good without a QB.

Pace and Nagy would not have survived two more years without hope brewing.

And I agree they aren’t good enough, but they are serviceable.

I just would prefer he were a dolphin and I don't understand how they justify that price for Waddle.

Pitts/Chase/Sewell you can make a case for. But I imagine the Jets/49ers/Bengals/Dolphins will all regret passing on Sewell at some point.

I understand the hype surrounding Zach Wilson, and I think, if he hits his absolute ceiling he can be a great. Perhaps Aaron Rodgers like, however, it's FAR MORE LIKELY that he's Jay cutler. People forget that Rodgers and Cutler have extremely similar physical traits. Huge arms, same level of mobility/athleticism, and very close in size and build. However, one processes the game very well and has a high football IQ, and the other doesn't.

Zach Wilson has very similar physical traits to both of those guys. However, he played nobody, had 5 seconds to throw every single time he dropped back, and had just 1 good year. He also was just drafted to the god damn Jets. That says Jay Cutler to me. He'll get by/be ok/make a career in the nfl off of his physical talent and ability to make any throw, but I don't think he'll be a true franchise guy, just like Cutler wasn't.

Fields is much more of a sure thing, I'm not sure if his ceiling is very high, but he has a very high floor in my opinion. I project him to be like a Kyler Murray/Jaylen Hurts (especially in the rookie year, seems like a good comp)/Lamar Jackson.

Mac Jones is Jared Goff, and Trey Lance, while he has good potential, is the MT of the draft. Total wildcard.

Joe Thomas showed us a left tackle can't do anything by himself.

I think that is one of the saddest careers I have ever watched.

A franchise that is mocked and laughed at for still having Sid Luckman as their best QB in history, fcked up with picking Trubisky over Mahommes or Watson.? Plus so many more fck ups in the past regarding the QB position? Hell yeah they made the right choice! They needed to grab this kid no matter what to get him in the fold. Now that they have the best prospect in their modern history, they need to get some bruisers for the O line and a WR to replace Miller. Hope they work out a deal with A Rob too.

This idea that the bears (or anyone really) should pass on the chance at a ridiculous talent at QB is the epitome of utter stupidity. Pause for concern? Sure.

What happenens if and when you find your tackles and then can't find your QB? I'll tell you what happens, you're in the same position you've always been in. We have history on our side throughout the league to prove it's much harder to find competent QB play then it is to find competent Tackle play.

Picking Fields was really the only way to drastically improve this team. No other pick we could have made today does that. A few of the offensive lineman would have helped a lot, but Fields has a chance to be special.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
I mean, Mac Jones 77.7% completions gives me some pause.

That's Aikman like. Jim Kelly. Rich Gannon.

I think we might have been sidetracked by the 5 tools and "right fit."

And right fit goes beyond scheme I racial world. I think Fields is right guy for team morale right now after Trubisky and with Jones baggage.

But...if I'm a GM I don't sleep well with Mac Jones taken behind my guy after missing on Watson/Mahomes already.

So let me get this str8. Are u saying Pace should've taken Jones?

The Bears had a really good OL, RB, solid enough WRs and starting TE, a complete defense and by far the best return specialist the league has ever seen and the leagues best STs and they lost the SB because their QB was dogshit and they havent recovered since. That was 15 years ago.

Fuck. I hope it doesn't turn out like that is what I am saying.

I think I like traits of all the 5 QB's and I would have been jealous of the Pats for getting one at 15 regardless.

I'm more joking as an abused Bears fan, that Jones will turn out the Hall of Famer and we won't get tackles and Fields will suffer some horrific injury trying to run some insane Nagy gimmick play.

The Bears did what they had to do and traded up to 11. They didn't sell the farm and move to 4. Pace showed some balls and executed a good value trade. None would have been left at 20.

I'm happy, just the fear of being hit before...you know...

The Bears need a left tackle, which is a premium position that other franchises simply are not going to sleep on and let fall to the mid-second. For every Orlando Brown Jr. there are dozens of failures. If the Bears are lucky they wind up with a Brian O'Neill or Brandon Parker type player who can at least be a viable starter on the right side, most of the time though these guys just bust out.

I know you weren't here the year after Trubisky was drafted but most of these people believe the Bear's org long standing BS that anyone can play oline but it takes top 10 talent at pass rush to beat those 7th rounders and UDFAs, great WRs aren't worth paying and since the Benson bust believe top talent at RB isn't worth it.
