Fuck. I hope it doesn't turn out like that is what I am saying.

I think I like traits of all the 5 QB's and I would have been jealous of the Pats for getting one at 15 regardless.

I'm more joking as an abused Bears fan, that Jones will turn out the Hall of Famer and we won't get tackles and Fields will suffer some horrific injury trying to run some insane Nagy gimmick play.

I'm good with Fields moving around making plays and sliding for a 1st down.
But Yeah....I don't want Fields doing some Nagy gimmick "designed run play" where he can get hurt.
I'd be so pissed.

I’m so happy that we got Fields. I think he has the most upside of all the quarterbacks in the draft. I actually thought he was going to be the number 2 overall pick.

The Bears had a really good OL, RB, solid enough WRs and starting TE, a complete defense and by far the best return specialist the league has ever seen and the leagues best STs and they lost the SB because their QB was dogshit and they havent recovered since. That was 15 years ago.
Also because Ron Turner decided to abandon the run in the second half. And put the game on Grossman's arm. In the rain.

Well the quarterback couldn't even take the snaps. It was a collapse of epic proportions. Also, that was the height of that Colts era and a lot more players of theirs than just Peyton Manning were at the absolute peak of their careers.

I have been watching the bears draft QB's for over 2 decades now and I have to say that this is the first time I have wanted to get a QB and the Bears actually took him!
All of us were devastated in 2017 when we heard the Trubiski pick but Last Night I believe was the Change of Pace for the organization.

They invested in a legit prospect who has been in the spotlight and has performed at the highest levels of the game and has college playoff experience. He is a leader who will give the team life when we need some hope and a great feild general that the team will follow (And wont pull a Cutler and bench himself when it gets tough).

Again we now have hope and a chance at some new life on this team.

At least we will have someone that we can rally behind and being a Bears fan now doesn't seem so bleak!

Change of Pace.......I like it. :D

They had a squad for sure. But this is more of a point of nothing matters if you don't have a QB. Of course you need more than that but your chances of failure are way greater if you don't. These teams that win without one are big exceptions. It's not every year that a legitimate top 3 talent falls out of the top 10 at that position. This makes future drafts so much easier. Now we don't need to hope that the Bears hit their pants during the season,

I think if Bob Sanders was hurt the Bears win that game. He came back for those playoffs though and just played the best football of his life (and his life contained some incredible football over his short career). But we are talking a generational talent at safety, there's nobody in the league now and really hasn't been since Troy Polamalu and Ed Reed retired that was on the level of prime Bob Sanders. Earl Thomas? Nice player, not Bob Sanders though.

To be fair, the Bears were also missing two of their three most important defenders in Harris and Brown. When Harris's hammy tore, the franchise was doomed until they signed Peppers.

Having Freeney and Sanders was big. Not having Brown and Harris was just as much so. But again, i think the Bears wins that if they have anything resembling a competent QB.

This was the correct move. While it does happen occasionally with QBs, excellent OL are found later in the draft almost yearly. They really only need to find one to make significant improvement.

Good point. A mobile Qb also helps the OL. Also the OC or Nagy needs to call more slants etc. to get the ball out quicker

Yeah that Monday Night game was the most pyrrhic victory in my life as a Bears. Mike Brown was the heart and soul of that defense and it was just never quite as good again.

It would be interesting if the Bears just teleport Jay Cutler through time to the 2006 squad how it shakes out. Because that was the source of everyone's excitement when they traded for him, but I think you are absolutely right that people sleep on how damn important Tommie Harris and Mike Brown were and by then Harris was a shell of his former self and Mike Brown was cooked and playing out the string of his career elsewhere (Kansas City IIRC).

Bears are not going anywhere without a QB. In my opinion, they should draft a QB in the first rd every draft until they get it right.

I've been watching the Bears draft QB's for 5 decades so think about how I feel and most years I wanted the Bears to take a QB in the first rd and the Bears not only took him this draft they took the one I wanted.

But you're not the master baiter. R&S doesn't realize he's been baiting for years.

Hard to know which of the top QBs will do best over time but to get a guy in that conversation for what we paid is a big win. I thought Fields should have gone in the top 3 picks. I won't pretend to know which of these guys has the best career but Fields has a very low fail potential.

Ya know .....for just one day, one would think you'd positive and leave all the negative narratives behind. After what happened yesterday, most of us are both shocked & happy. Do ya think it would be asking to much.... that u be happy and positive for the next few days?

Here let me do something positive for u. Lets see if u can ' "Fields" ......a brand new day". Pun intended

Where they got him at was fine, but I am still concerned about him being from OSU and the plethora of qbs that have failed there. Especially with a possible lame duck coach. Hopefully it’s not Haskins all over again.

Starts a tread: "So who thinks we made the wrong 1st rnd. selection" Obviously looking for negatives to bitch at.
Asks me to be more positive in his negativity thread. I can't make this shit up.
I couldn't be happier, by the way.

Oh so everyone shouldn't have a chance to weigh in? Almost 200 ppl have weighed in. And that's what good journalism is all about......getting various viewpoints.

Name a time when you're positive without starting with a covert-overt negative narrative. Then in the last sentence u pretend to be "positive". Perfect example is your comment below.
