Soldier Field dome concept. Pretty cool, but too little too late...

Have you guys seen this? I didn't see it posted, apologies if it was.

Looks pretty amazing tbh. But it still doesn't look like it solves the capacity problem, and the Bears not owning the facility.

Or the Bear having concessions, parking and off site betting/casino.

So they want to remove about half the endzone seats making the NFLs smallest stadium even smaller.

You know what would be cool is if once they move they would do 1 game a yr at Soldier Field as a throwback game. Hell, they may even be able to make a deal to get out of the lease early without penalty if they would offer to do that for x number of years. Soldier Fields situation is different than most in that it isn't being replaced and demolished, it will still be a venue for events and usable for years.

Great idea but they probably still lose money vs concessions, parking, on site betting, hotel etc.

Maybe the Mayor will let them keep the name, LOL.

There are a lot of cool looking features to this display, but I dont see a thing about getting the stadium to 75,000+ seats.

Seats for chicago-sized asses. None of those skinny LA standard sizes, but wide seats with foot room to walk past someone without threatening to push a beer on someone else.

Didn't watch the video but I did see in another thread there will still be less extensive renovations if/when the Bears move.

TBH I've never quite understood why fans care about how small the stadium is.

This would be settling for Amber Heard when you could have Selma Hayek.

Allegiant stadium capacity is 65k. Bears home turf is 62k

it's all about VIP skyboxes and perks (lobster menu) that allow teams to make the big bang for the buck. CEO's with deep pockets bring their clients and their families to watch a game as they discuss business #woah.

Soldier field vip skyboxes are a dump tho. Look it up on youtube, it's utter garbage. Barely anyone films and uploads it to youtube to show it off cause there is nothing to see that's worthwhile. Watching an outdoor game thru a thick glass with black vertical frame bar every xx feet disrupting your view dependent on where the ball is, ugh. This was their idea of renovation back in the day for the vip section? lol

A bit could be offset by releasing them from the $84M penalty for leaving early. Also the Bears could make that a family day at Arlington with the game on the jumbo tron locker room and field tours.

Plus the McCaskeys seem like the type that would enjoy the heritage of the yearly game at Soldier Field and all the pageantry that they could surround it by. It could be a huge NFL/Bears/Halas nostalgia event every season.

Problem is that Networks hate the place so they probably don't do a national game with it, even though they should. I'm not disagreeing with a cool premise but doubt it happens unless it's a preseason thing.

It is a good starting point for the McCaskeys in Arlington. They tell the architects to make it like this, pointing to the video, but bigger and better.

Since they bounce from 8 home games to 9 home games per season, they can have 1 of those games every year in Soldier Field, and when there are 9 home games, they can play one in Wrigley Field, seeing that it was the Bears' home field before Soldier Field.

I had the privilege of getting to watch a game from a skybox at Soldier Field for the 2017 Packers home game (the one with the infamous John Fox challenge of a TD that was a successful challenge but ended up in being a safety instead of getting a TD or losing the challenge and the ball at the half yard line as originally called). The skybox was a good experience compared to my times sitting out in the elements but it definitely was not VIP. The food was so-so (all you can eat being the primary perk), the soda options were RC cola brands or Dr. Pepper, bar options were not stellar. The sightlines were okay but not really anything better than seats at a similar height in the stadium. While I'd be happy to do it again for free as was the option back then, I would not pay the price tag they ask for those as it currently is setup.

Make that Soldier Field game be at the end of the year, so fans can experience "Bear weather" once a year.

They would have to play there when the 2nd team that moves to Chicago and calls Soldier Field home is on a bye or has an away game.
