Ryan Pace picked up Taquan "Smoke" Mizzell on the Waiver Wire after he was cut from the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore fans are livid. We appear to have grabbed their "Tanner Gentry?!"

So who is this UDFA?!

He is a dual threat RB/WR that can do a lot of damage lined up at the slot. He is a significant upgrade from Langford and adds to a Bears Running game that will be dynamic and exciting. (This is going to be fun to watch....Jordan, Tarik, Benny and now Taquan!) Keep the Fullback! Run the ball!

I was surprised he wasn't drafted. More surprised he didn't make the roster.

Makes me wonder if there are other question marks we don't know about.

He looks dynamic.

Will be insteresting to see if/how they use him on the bubble.

So, basically, the only RB that we have that can't catch very well is Howard, and he's supposed to have corrected that this off-season by getting his eye surgery. So, with 4 (I think) TE's (since Brauneker just got released to make room) a decent OL, a FB, and a fucking giraffe that checks down his check downs, we have the makings of a Bearball team. Ironically, this is the team that will get off the bus running.

If we have a decent D, then we can win some games by pounding the ball against the built for speed pass specialists and tweeners out there. We may surprise people with the revival of the big '80's O. Ya heard it hear first, I'm coining it "the big '80's O" brought to you by Parcells and Ditka. Pound the ball in the hole 'till it hurts.

Not sure what to take away from his video's. Not built to survive to many carries at RB. Seems like sweeps, reverses, and screens could work well with him.

Yup. Maybe they are looking at him in the slot besides having somebody they can do the same stuff with as Cohen. Allows you to not compress the O if Cohen gets a ding.

The way I see it Cunningham is similar to Howard and Mizell is similar to Cohen. If one of the starters gets injured there is another complement back already on the roster.

I watch all the preseason games with the Ravens and I am baffled, he looked like a starting caliber RB AND he plays special teams well. Everyone was sure that he had done more than enough to make the team.

As a Ravens fan, I can say they let a good one get away, but I'm glad the Bears were the ones to snatch him up.

Here I was. So impressed to see a clips vid with such an awesome song as Midnight Blues - by Snowy White....impressed it wasn't a bunch of yelling / rap like the rest.

...for the first 60 seconds. :obama:

Bears don't need another RB. They could always use a good Special Teamer, or WR.

Can he block & catch??

It was said in another post, half-joking about the "T-Formation" of 2TE, 3RBs...if the talent shoe fits!

Likely not a great blocker but he had 127 catches over the last 2 years. I personally think his future is in the slot if he's going to be more than a peripheral player. Not as fast as he looks and doesn't have the leverage of Cohen.

they are bringing John Shoop back as a consultant for the check-down plays department of the offense

He looks pretty explosive. Similar to a Percy Harvin type. With the lack of talent at Wr we may see him and cohen used as weapons all over the field.

He's got the cutting ability obviously, but lacks straight line speed to take it to the house. only a 4.55 40 at his pro day...slow for his size. And the way he holds the ball is asking for it to be stripped at the NFL level. That will need to be corrected. But only dropping 2 passes out of over 160 in college is pretty good. Not sure if he can be a weapon from the slot without speed though. Seems his best fit is lining up at RB and sneaking out for the dump off in space. 3rd down specialist.

Pace has found production at the RB position last couple years. I'll cut him slack on this pickup

The Bears RBs are a 4th round pick, 5th round pick, and 2 UDFAs and arguably may be the top overall group in the NFL. I know Zeke Elliott, Todd Gurley, etc. are good....but really no reason to ever draft a RB in the 1st round. Even if they are a generational talent like those guys, it's just not worth the investment.

Kids got some soft hands and pretty good cuts. I'll be excited to see how Loggains uses him and Cohen this season. We should get some good highlights from the two of them this season if they get enough game time.
