I know exactly what you mean, and I'll offer you this.
For one, the first hit off a THC vape pen for anyone who isn't high, will hit like a fucking hammer.
One top of that, I think it is the heat of the vape as you said.
If I take a decent first hit, it can still make me cough like a little bitch, too lol.
But once that's over, all subsequent hits for me aren't that bad.
So you're getting hit by 3 things I'm betting:
1. When you hit a THC vape pen, prolly its the first weed you've had of the day.
2. Its probably also the first vape you've had of the day or in a a while, so your lungs are not used to it.
3. The vape is hot or it wouldn't be vapor, and unlike a cigar or the like it is hard to take a small hit, and very easy to take a large hit without realizing it lol
I recommend to people, take the hit in a fluid motion.... hold the button (if needed), breathe in, breath out smooth, and immediately take a small sip of water to prevent yourself from coughing, then breathe in some air.
Usually does the trick for me... or just cough like a bitch and enjoy your high idgaf.
