Why is this so attractive for people to watch others at their worst, and feel outrage? I would imagine that chips away at one's soul over time, to watch every indiscretion people make, every asshole moment, every karen response.

One side of our political spectrum elected Donald Trump primarily to "Own the Libz"

We've spent nearly 4 years enduring the "owning" or the "winning" depending on your affiliation.

Just like Trump voters got immense satisfaction watching upset Democrats after the 2016 election.... there are "Libz" (woke Twitter) that enjoy this stuff because it feels like the tables are turned.

Like... "LOL Look who's mad now?!?!?"

I get your perspective, but you don't live here.... I don't think you entirely grasp just how terribly the US society has been broken and divided.

People walk on fucking eggshells because who knows if you're about to deal with a tantrum or racial injustice or Police brutality or coronavirus or joblessness or homelessness or loss of healthcare or something else terrible.

One side or the other takes pleasure in the pain of the other anytime they can.

I think this is all symptoms of a broken society.... people feel how broken things are and it is making many mentally and emotionally volatile..... I admit it, I feel anxiousness like I never have in my life.

We're in a perfect storm of conflicts and crisis right now.

Ah, the you don't live here argument. Okay then, I will not post on any of this stuff anymore.

LOL, as if this shit is stopped by an invisible border.

Are you arguing living in Canada is the same experience as living in the US?

I'm always happy to hear your perspective and I've always deferred to you on Canadian experience... because you live there and experience it first hand.

I live here and experience this society first hand, so yeah I know it better than you do.

Sorry if that makes me a total dick, but it is true.

If you don't believe me, move here and see for yourself.... it is worse than you realize.

Trudeau is in charge of your country.... mine is run by a narcissistic toddler.

Our experiences are fundamentally different right now.

I always appreciate your perspective, and I even agree with most of what you've said. I agree we are witnessing loss of empathy, forgiveness and it's terrible. I think the tweet shaming is more of a symptom than a cure as well.

As far as the border goes though, you aren't experiencing first hand the rioting and destruction are you?

I'm sure there are some Canadian Qanons running around up there, but have you ever had an IRL interaction with any? I've had THREE, one on one, just this week. Once with a vendor and two were customers (only one was full on Q but the others were spewing some Q chit)

I'm sure it's weird up there too and disparities in your society are being exposed by the virus just like every society, but I think you'd agree that Americans pre-covid and Trump have a lot less going for us in terms of social safety net, and a LOT more guns. Our society's ass is showing more than ever before, and something as simple as a trip to the grocery store can be more dangerous than just being exposed to a virus.

It certainly can be soul crushing, but nothing really new. The Jerry Springer Show was the same shitshow three decades ago. What is happening now is just a natural progression of those seeds...no matter how foul they were from the start.

That's why I gave up on the human race long before 2020 and not really surprised it is all playing out the way it has. That is the saddest sentence I have ever typed here, but it's true.

You E-People are cool though...and germ free!

That is exactly what I painted on my front door seven years ago, n00b.

I like to shout it at small children in the grocery store.

I prefer every trip to Jewel includes me being led out by the staff/Police as I babble incoherently about my supposed constitutional rights which I've never understood.

You must be very respectful of grocery stores because that is where your food comes from and you have to respect your food...even when it does not respect you.

Beer sales rep said he was openly mocked, to the point he was uncomfortable, in a bar last week because he was wearing a mask. He tried to explain he had to, company policy, but the rednecks didn’t care or understand.

What's a couple of the more interesting things the Qs were saying?

Acting badly has been one form of entertainment since entertainment. Greek plays are just the first to be written down. And yeah, Jerry Springer Show, I remember seeing a clip where he announces the two sides' grievances and threats, and the crowd cheers him with a 'ohh!' of excitement, and he says, 'no, I'm not going to fight, they are!' The expectation of fighting has filled expectations. We have to expect and be ready with good instead, you know, IRL.

Now imagine the tantrum in November when Trump loses.

Yikes.
I believe this is the type of behavior you were alluding to the other day when talking to @Xuder O'Clam about the current state of living in the US. It is seriously out of control. I'm assuming the guy getting yelled at had some 'Biden' bumper sticker or something. It does look like in the video he might have a flag on his truck too.

We can't even show support for the person we are voting for without getting harassed, yelled at, or put in dangerous situations like this that could have resulted in a wreak. This shit sucks

It is... and yeah these fucking psychos are everywhere.

And Trump emboldens them to act this way.

Every time you leave your house you have to wonder if you will catch covid-19 or if you will encounter a Trumper psycho.

Taking common sense approaches to prevent the spread of a pandemic is a POLITICAL ISSUE here.

It isn't a political issue anywhere else in the world.

I don't know how people outside the US can really grasp what it is like to live in a society full of people so illogical that they consider efforts to keep everyone healthy from a pandemic as a Red vs Blue topic.

Red = Trump, it is a hoax....
Blue = It isn't a hoax and we need to do things to control it.

This is one unique American experience I wish I never knew.
