And yes....sooner or later someone is going to get tired of having a cell phone shoved in their face and they are going to react.

You didn't hurt my feelings lol, I do not care what you think. My problem with this post is the guy brought it on himself. Did the person holding the camera make the guy lash out on her? He could have turned around, not said a word and minded his own. Instead he just went nuts. Walking aggressively towards her, clinching fists, yelling shit, terrorizing her etc. Those were his actions. Own them. I don't have one ounce of sympathy for the guy and I'll leave it at that.

I still dont really love the guy losing his job.
However- if you are throwing a ridiculous tantrum for an extended period, you are an asshole. Especially if your tantrum is directed at an hourly worker who doesn't make policy or someone who legitimately has health risks that you are threatening.
As a kid, if I threw a tantrum I would get the shit smacked out of me.
At work, if I threw a tantrum I would get my ass fired.
If I throw one in public, having someone record it and post it is my possible repercussion.
I can say with a great deal of certainty that if I were being a shitbag in public and someone whipped out a phone, that would go a long way towards diffusing me.
Much more effective than someone trying to argue back or physically restrain me which would send me ballistic.
Someone whipping out a phone is an opportunity to come back to earth. You dont take it? Then deal with the fallout. You squandered your chance to be a human.

Criminal, and deeply racist acts are a little different than what this guy did. And I am old fashioned I guess, and value due process.
But aside from apparently racist, and criminal acts, yes, let's demand perfection from everyone, and if they aren't, let's try to show the world how bad of a human being they are. And make them pay for their imperfection.
I do not support vigilantism. In any form.
This guy may be a complete asshole in every way. I don't know. I don't know him, so I am neither excusing his actions, nor vilifying him for being a horrible human being.
Why is this so attractive for people to watch others at their worst, and feel outrage? I would imagine that chips away at one's soul over time, to watch every indiscretion people make, every asshole moment, every karen response.
I spent a few days exploring twitter the other week for the first time, and I'll never click on another twitter link again. You aren't going to solve the world's problems through this lens.

I agree with the chipping away bit - I'm thinking I need a break from these videos, it's really messing with my optimism and my belief that almost everyone is capable of positive change.
As far as public shaming, this is not new at all, and while I would lean towards your sentiment that this format is not going to solve the world's problems, I don't think people for the most part whipping out their phones and publishing this behavior for solely selfish reasons. I think a lot of people see these things and want some sort of justice, and don't see our society as a just one. I think there's a very large population that believes our society is systemically unjust, and don't want to see these bad actors further emboldened as they escape consequences for these behaviors.
