Well at least that is what their contracts say after yesterdays signing:

Justin Fields $18.8M/ $11.1M SB

Trevor Lawrence $36.8M/ $24M SB.

Anyone need further explanation for this look:

I think he is thinking about 18M ways of making all other teams pay.

I hope we get into year 3 with him and his performance has the team thinking about how they can lock him down long term, even if that means paying him crazy money.

I mean it's the difference between the #1 pick and the #11 pick. Zach Wilson's contract is over 35M. Trey Lance over 34M. Mil and a half less than Devonta Smith who went 1 pick ahead of Fields. That's what made the pick even better. The Bears get a franchise QB for a fraction of the cost in draft picks and at a 15-16M discount of what he was worth as a prospect.

Fields will have the easier time. The Jags are a dumpster fire and have been for a long time.

Urban Meyer will fail there

Meyer just went on a rant the other day about how he is not used to cutting the roster down to 53 and how dumb it is and how difficult he thinks it's gon be

so...

yeah

Hes a moron. The Etienne pick and what he's doing with him has told me everything I need to know about how his tenure will go

He is the rookie in the biggest market with only one team and you think that he won't be able to make up 18 million in 4 years?

If he truly becomes a franchise QB, he is going to be all over tv advertising.

Don't think that is the only thing he was scowling about, similarly, it seems someone forgot to tell Patrick Mahomes to not hold a grudge on his way to the Super Bowl MVP and his $150M contract.

In retrospect, if the Bears had lost 1 or 2 more games last season, not been helped into the playoffs in a wheelchair, they'd have picked earlier and perhaps had the 13th-15th pick (7-9) or or 10-12th pick (6-10)?? Not sure of the exact spots/records, but let's say that happened and they picked him at #10 straight up for example:

They'd have not spent & kept the 2022 1st Rd pick and others given up to move to 11.
But they'd now be paying him a lot more if picked earlier, as said earlier in the thread - Devonta Smith $$ at #10 = $20.2 mil, signing bonus $12 mil.

Knowing Pace, he probably would've traded up to pick 7 and spent picks and higher salary anyway? ?‍♂️

Things that make you go hmm.

This. If Fields does become a superstar and the first true franchise QB the Chicago Bears have ever had his face will be everywhere. Theres far more money for him to be made here than somewhere like Jacksonville. Fields has a chance to be the new face of the league if he can do the impossible and succeed at QB in Chicago.

FIFY. Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves and jinx things now.

"Potential" is probably a good add there. But let's not act like jinxes are real. Especially because one random fan like myself shows optimism and none of the people involved will ever read it.
