Their college scouting reports were almost identical. Smith, however, is smart and figured it out. It's doubtful Mitch will ever run a complex O very well.I'd actually say that to this point, Trubisky is the opposite of what Alex Smith became.
Smith didn't have the physical traits or natural athletic ability, but was smart and developed really good decision-making.
Trubisky so far is the opposite. Arm talent is there. Physical traits and natural athletic ability are there. Decision-making and reading a defense? Nope, not yet.
Mitch Trubisky is not better than Justin Fields. Fields was far superior in high school and college. He will continue that reality in the pros too.It's been about long enough and Mitch is now getting his shot to start again. I think he'll be OK...probably better than Fields. Granted, the Bears don't have much talent around Fields...certainly the Steelers skill players are much better.
