Unpopular opinion (apparently??) - The Bears are NOT Superbowl contenders yet.

Sheesh, I feel like this one is going to sting more than it should, but bears fans just aren't being realistic.

Truth of the matter is this: you CAN NOT call this team a "super bowl contender".. not yet, it's waaayyyy too early. But this is exactly what is plastered all over the FA thread by posters like WCBF and the like. Just total mindless posting from the hip, blindfiring off posts like a basement dweller with Cheeto crusted fingers on a 4chan /pol/ post. No thought, just staining buttons orange on a 15$ keyboard.

Are you guys aware the bears last won a playoff game in 2010?

Slow your rolls. Enjoy the limited success the bears just had last season and relax. Let the process play out. But for the love of God, stop calling the bears a super bowl contender like it's just some matter of fact, common knowledge tidbit. It's redonkulous.

Did you consider the Rams superbowl contenders last year? If so, what is the difference between that team and this years Bears team?

If not, you were wrong. :)

I too like to look at outliers from SB losers to try and prove points.

Vegas has them 12-4 or 5th among all teams to win the SB and favorites to win NFC North. If that means anything. I would say there are 10 teams that are “contenders”. Pedantics aside.

Go ahead and tell us what it implies.
It implies they will be contending for a Superbowl, or have contended for a Superbowl recently.

95% of teams considered "Superbowl contenders" on any given year will have won a playoff game in the last 8 years.

Who are the super bowl contenders this year?

If Vegas oddsmakers have you as the 5th or 6th likeliest team to win the Super Bowl, then I think you're a contender by definition (unless you think there are only like 2 or 3 legitimate contenders each year, which would be ridiculous).

You should take that bet and let us know how it goes.

Something no one ever considers: the bears were far and away the healthiest team in the NFL last season.

You really think that luck continues? Fat chance buddies.

How were the Rams outliers?

I am just proving (fairly easily) that your logic sucks.

Rams and Eagles the past 2 years so not sure they are outliers. Would be interesting to study.

How many other teams have followed the Rams trajectory?

Answer: not many, at all.

Do you understand how outliers work? It means they aren't the norm.

Not thinking about it for more than 5 seconds, the Eagles.

Again, your thread sucks.

Thing is, not many ppl would have been calling those teams BEFORE THE SEASON STARTED "Superbowl contenders"

Yet on CCS, bears being Superbowl contenders is a commonly accepted fact of CCS. Just weird.
