“It’s disappointing the Bears didn’t rank a lower player higher because they play WR.” Not a direct quote, but it gets the just if it…

This video does not confirm the Bears we’re not selecting a WR under any circumstances in the second round at the start of the draft. It does show that as our pick approached, Gordon was likely the highest rated player on our board at that time. We have no idea if a wide receiver would have been selected if a different player slid down. For example, he may have had Chris Olave rated higher than Gordon or Brisker. But he did confirm he was not going to overdraft a player asked on perceived need, and that he was staying true to his draft board.

You knew Brisker would have been the 39th pick if Gordon was taken 38?
So you have moved up from stealing from other reporters or bloggers and writing your own material as if it was your own to actually making analysis which is actually wrong?

Brilliant!

Your thread title is

Video confirms Chicago Bears’ GM Ryan Poles wasn’t drafting a wide receiver in second round

Funny but what I saw in the video is that Poles had Gordon and Brisker as his two highest players on his board when the Bears got on the clock at 39. The Bears were lucky enough to have Brisker available at 48 where he was then the highest player on his draft board, and so, he was drafted.

That is drafting BPA which also happened to be at positions of need.

What is a fact is that Poles did not draft a WR in the 2nd round.

This is not what you stated in the title.

As an example, let's look at what you just said.

You knew Brisker would have been the 39th pick if Gordon was taken 38?

In that situation, Gordon was gone and the Bears would have taken Brisker at 39 because he was BPA.

Question for you: how do you know that a WR would not have been taken in that situation, seeing that one of the two players who were mentioned as the two top players on Poles board would have been gone by pick 39?

Maybe the Bears would have taken Pierce at 48 and Velus at 71 if one or the other of Gordon and Brisker were taken before 39?

Now imagine that both Gordon and Brisker were gone before 39, do you still think that "Chicago Bears’ GM Ryan Poles wasn’t drafting a wide receiver in second round"?

Every pick that Poles makes is the right one. Much better and immediate impact players than anything anyone else suggests.

If experts say poles reached, it doesn’t matter because his board says they’re wrong. If they like Poles pick, then he’s a genius because the experts agree.

Get in line or get out of the way.

That’s easy, especially in hindsight. Because no other relevant nfl scouting department valued those players like Poles, and Gordon and Brisker (who he was willing to overcook the board for the safety position) were at the top of his board, there was no way he was choosing a wr in the second.
