In Houstons last ride they face a much younger version of themselves.

Gurriel may be even better than Jiminez or Robert and together with Brantley makes them a nightmare with "spirit animal" Altuve up top.

But I'd rather face them than the Yankees or Ray's in 5 games.

Just give it our best and hope we come up aces. Getting here is a win for our development and experience. A few big games to finish the story of 2021 White Sox won't hurt.

Updated first post.
Any word on starting rotations and/or Houstons?

?1. Gio 2. Lynn 3. Rodon 4.?

Keuchel has big game hootspah...I'd at the least trust him with favorable stat matchups out of the pen.

So they stretched out Kopech in case Lynn or Rodon continue recent trends they have a couple long relievers with Lopez in the mix.

Cease will pitch game 3 or 4 at home due to his splits.

The formula right now is Lynn or Gio get a road win, Cease does his home thing, and we win in 4 or throw Gio at em again, or have him to start the next series.

Our manager loves a big pen so we are likely to see them all.

The Astros are set up similarly, with two horses, Valdez and McCullers 1,2.

Then they plan to drop a bunch of half game guys on us, with Greinke out of the pen in long relief of Javier, or more likely Odorizzi.

We probably do the same thing with Cease, Rodon, Lopez...though we don't need more than 3 innings from these guys due to strength of pen.

Ride the hot hand and next up at first signs of fatigue or trouble. I'm a huge fan of the way LA Russa handles his playoff pitchers...there may be none better, while for Dusty Baker questionable pitching decisions have been his Achilles heal along with lack of production from his superstars in big games.

I wouldn't ever try Cease a third time through a rotation in the playoffs unless he was on a no hitter.

His ability to completely lose control instantly and start losing his pitches high is astounding. But he's comes into series hotter than Lynn or Rodon.

Just give me 4 and let Lopez or Kopech bridge it to the ace pen.

I think you throw Rodon at the wall in game 4, but again, if he comes out topping in low 90's you quickly rely on Kopech or Lopez for a few innings, then let LA Russa do his thing.

Let's not forget these managers are rivals. Lol.

Just something to monitor. They respect but do not appreciate each other always, former friends.

Both on last hurrah's or close to.

Altuve, Brantley, Bregman, Alvarez, Gurriel, Correa vs

Anderson, Moncada. Abreu, Robert, Jimenez, Grandall

That's a heavy weight contenders match! Bring on the Yankees next for the winner.

Engel has showed me a bit of a clutch gene, it will be interesting to see who else steps into opportunity and heroism beyond those stacked cores.

Those two day games can kiss my ass. But Sunday is perfect bears then Sox
Perfect. May it be the clincher after a win.

Yeah...you build cores, but it's the unsung hero that makes sports beautiful. Joe Crede and pitching is what it took last time.

Unless it's vs Yankees or Ray's it's gonna take pitching again.

Cole wins. Ray's are damaged goods.

I think Houston is our twin right now and an even fight to host Yankees.

National league gonna be small ball like the Giants or maybe Brewers.

This is a winnable sleight, imo, and my gut says this first series...White Sox vs Houston might be for the championship. These other teams are deeply flawed in American league.

May the baseball God's smile on us again.

@Raskolnikov how about the October weather angle how this team handle that when temps start getting frosty? Are we better off with those day games?

Yeah, and they are our twin so I don't think it creates an advantage one way or another.

Gotta pitch in the playoffs. Bottom line, if the pitching can't get through Houstons lineup we are in trouble.

Even the managers are both relics who have an ancient feud.

I'm glad it's them, should be good baseball but it won't be easy.

Houston is fighting for redemption, White Sox for a name.

Houston is about to sell off its window and transition, last ride.
White Sox are at the front of a long window

I think we shake the doldrums and get amped for this. Field of Dreams game gives me hope this team has major clutch genes.

We gonna do battle. Hopefully bomb some trains.
