Honestly, the only album of Metallica that is truly garbage is St. Anger.
Metallica fell off my radar with the black album.
Master of puppets was in heavy rotation for me, justice had some whoop ass tunes...and I was looking forward to the next step.

The year prior to it coming out, pantera released cowboys from hell.

Darrell's sound became the benchmark for me.
The intro to cowboys from hell, the pinch harmonics on cemetery gates... that was the shit.

One year later the black album came out, and I was underwhelmed.
Not a bad album at all, but it went lighter when I was wanting heavier.

This is still some of my favorite guitar work of all time.

Imagine arguing that Picasso was better than Manet or Michelangelo better than da Vinci or ..... It is art. It is subjective. Stop it.

Rolling Stone rating system has been fucked up over the years. Once they had Taylor under 17 then another time 48. They have had Roy Orbison, Bonnie Ryatt and Jon Lennon all under 75, while they dont have the great Brian Setzer in the top 100. How could that ever happen. They have had Keith Richards at #4 and as much as I love Keith not sure I would put him there.

Keith gets love for his writing with Mick. And the man did write some legendary riffs. He played with an open G setting so that differentiated him, too. I love his work and Taylor’s-and many more.

I love Clapton and he is who I, rather miserably, tried to emulate. Don’t play much anymore but I appreciate a lot of different players.

Do you mean open G tuning?
