Would you guys be cool with a 2022 TANK to get some top quality picks?

The deadline for compensatory draft picks in 2023 passed. With Larry Ogun’s deal falling through, did the Bears get any?

Wait a minute…. What position do you think the Bears are in then? If this isn’t a complete rebuild what is?
Poles himself refused to term the Bears as a rebuild. More like a house that needs a few rooms redone and others a mere paint job.

It's not a complete teardown and rebuild from the ground up like when Pace took over in 2015. There are some core pieces to work with and build around.

It's more like a renovation.

Yeah, Poles doesn’t use that word because of George. It’s been covered that he hates calling it a rebuild.

Imagine how many times you could trade down with a top 3 pick. Could trade back multiple times in the first alone!

Say no to tanking. Establishing a culture and winning mindset is more important, and with all that salary cap room, the top players will want to play with good teams, and tanking would hurt that cause.
The Bears are in no position to use that salary cap to pick high priced players to try to win a championship from where they currently are.

I hope that Poles uses the cap to resign his own, look for more bargains in free agency and then build through the draft. If and when he has built a very good team and needs a cherry on top to build a Super Bowl team, he should then consider that piece.

Shopping in 2023 for top talent is silly. It will just get the Bears where they were in 2021 capwise, full of overpriced older injured players and 35 players on one year deals.

They need to build for the future through the draft.

just talking about one season dawg
No, that would be 4 seasons in a row, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Some may not have been technically losing seasons but, with Nagy, they learned exactly what a tanking team would have learned, the great "lack of": lack of discipline, lack of talent, lack of growth, lack of competence, lack of teaching, lack of responsibility and, finally, lack of hope.

Not a great thing for Fields for 2 seasons in a row and certainly not for players with 3 or 4 years on the team.

I kinda thought that was Pole’s plan after his lack luster effort in March.

People fail to understand all these "top tier" FA's in 2023 will want multi-year top dollar contracts. That means no cap space in 2024-2025. Better to frontload a few younger players than it is to fill your roster out with too many FA's.
