Edwin Jackson and Mark Teahen, they gone!!!
Looking to make a dent in payroll Kenny Williams finalized a deal that sent RHP Edwin Jackson and 3B/OF Mark Teahen to the Toronto Blue Jays for RHP Jason Frasor and Zack Stewart. Toronto will pick up 100% of the remainder of Teahens contract. the deal should save the Sox about 9 M over the next 2 years. Edwin Jackson was flipped for Colby Rasmus.
Frasor, 33, is an Oak Forest native and has been in the Toronto ‘pen for the last 7 years this year he is 2-1 with a 2.98 ERA over 42 innings. Stewart, 24, was drafted in 2008 by the Reds and made his MLB debut this year. He is 0-1 with a 4.86 ERA over 16 innings this year.
After being struck on the calf by an Andrew Miller pitch White Sox captain Paul Konerko had to leave the game. “It hit me good right on the outside of the left knee,” The pain had gone away when I was at first during Carlos at-bat, but the whole lower part of my leg was not there. No strength and no real feel to it. I couldn’t bear weight on it. It was real weak, so that was that.”
When asked about Pauly availability, Ozzie said, “I don’t expect him to be in the lineup, to be honest with you, we’ve got two lineups for tomorrow just in case he can’t play, just in case he’s not available.” X-rays were negative.
Brent Lillibridge at first
Brent Lillibridge got his first action at first base; Lillibridge said of the experience, “It’s just first-step reactions and trying to knock the ball down. Obviously, you’re not going to make too many big throws, so it’s just catch the ball and you’ll be fine.”
He had been taking balls at the position recently; will we see him there more often? “I’ve got it under the belt now, so hopefully, if it ever comes up again, it’s not a big deal. But mark it off the list, I guess.” doesn’t sound like it.
