Peavy is expected to miss the rest of the season, and Lilly may be the best available pitcher after Cliff Lee. The Sox have at least "kicked in the tire" on Lee, so if they fail to get him, they could be interested in Lilly.

Well, they don't need to take too much for him, maybe one good prospect and few low levels. The Sox won't have a spot for Lilly next year, so there is no worry that he gets connected too much to his new team. And Hendry wants to snag Lilly again in Free Agency.

Most of my friends are Sox fans, but they'll root for the Cubs too, and I (and some of the other Cubs fans I'm friends with) return the favor.
