Cubs go as far as their starters go. Arrieta and Hammel have been the staff aces

Well, we were going to go to Friday's game, but 90% chance of rain at game time, so we switched plans to Saturday. I would have liked to see Arietta vs Lackey, but Bryant with flu would have sucked.

So now I see Wacha (coming off a poor performance, so he'll throw a perfect game) vs. TBA.

Fuck

You can say that about every team.

Kinda. Cubs O has been sketchy. The O can't push past a 4+ run game. Just the way it is. Team takes it share of SO's. OF is full of scrubs right now. So in general if the starter is not spot on the chances are slim that they win that game.

Jim Callas said that he fells that the Cubs are wasting time with making Schwarber a catcher. Most scouts feel his skill set is too sketchy. Lacks a quick release etc. So he feels they should have moved him to LF in AAA then get his bat into the play off roster. I agree 100% with this. They have Montero on the books for a few years and there is not a glaring need at catcher for the next 2 years.

Another point he made is Kyle would get in 110 games aprox as a catcher. Then the wear and tear he would get as one. VS getting his bat in the line up 30 more games per year. It is kinda a dumb decision that they are making.

Schwarber won't ever be a good catcher in MLB.

I am worried whether he can even be a decent OF.

Passable. His bat in 140-150 games per weighs more than him catching.

You're saying it's OK to have a bad defensive catcher as long as he hits?

That is a sure way to hurt your team. Good teams don't have bad catchers. Fuck the bat!

Not sure where you saw that part?

I said that he would get 30 more games in by playing LF. He would get around 110 games by catching. Do the math; he would lose on avg 120 AB's per year by catching.

Did you bother to read what I wrote?

That reference was regarding him playing LF. I'm not a fan of him as a starting catcher. I rather like Montero catching.
