Also saw "Into the Spidey Verse" recently. Very good movie, but drug on at times. Especially when they were going around introducing all the different dimensional Spidey's. Felt like that was done very inefficiently.

The animation seems so weirdly drawn (?) to me but I will probably give it a go anyway soon.

Tombstone is 10/10 by the way. If it isn't then 10 itself is not even real.

The animation is really catchy. Maybe the coolest part of the movie. Very good. Not a distraction imo. It "makes" the movie.

Imagine if Zack Snyder was about to make a DCEU movie and at the last minute they changed it to a Godzilla movie.

that's King of the Monsters.

Saw Godzilla King of the Monsters. Rating 5.5 / 10
Sigh. I don't know what to think. ?. Some of it didn't make sense. The cinematography was kinda' bad. Some of it was sorta' kooky and corny. The acting was meh. The action was kinda' over done. See it, but, try not to pay full price.

I liked the Godzilla (1998) better.

Some uncomfortable sexual scenes. But definitely a movie to check out.....if ya' don't know much about Elton John. LOL.....I remember his songs growing up

King of Monsters

10/10

Don't listen to the two dorkchops above this post. As a lifelong Godzilla, and overall kaiju junkie...I feel like I can die happy now. Yes, the plot is absurd and continually betrays itself. Yes, half of the human cast sacrifices themselves for very flimsy reasons. Yes, every single fight looks more Pro Wrestling than Animal Planet.

What is the problem here?!?

Have you never seen a Godzilla movie without Ferris Bueller in it???

For the rest of you...pure kaiju porn. Even worth IMAX money.

Well yeah, I will admit that if you like murky and grainy fights you can barely see, it's a movie for you.

Close ups that are too tight, shaky cameras, a lack of wide angle shots that reveal what you actually want to see. It has all that jazz.

I haven't posted here in a minute but here's some quick thoughts on the last 3 things I've seen

Brightburn: I enjoyed it and would recommend someone watch it if there into this type of movie. It's not a great movie and I don't think I'll have a desire to ever watch it again. Pretty much what you see in the trailer is what you get. There are no subplots in this movie.

Rocketman: I thought it was well done for what it was. I'm not really into musicals, but I'm sure someone that likes musicals would enjoy this. One thing I appreciated about this movie, especially since Elton John had a huge hand in it, was that they let you know he was an asshole. I know a lot of times they'll make these guys appear better than they were. Also, Taron Eggerton can really sing. I liked that the actor actually did the singing and they didn't just use Elton John's voice for that.

Aladdin: This one was a pleasant surprise for me. With all of the issues this movie went through, combined with the fact I've thought that every movie Will Smith has made since I Am Legend has sucked, I was expecting not to like this at all. I really enjoyed it even though it is flawed. The main actor isn't all that great and the story was really stretched out, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Dark Phoenix was not good. Messy story and a mediocre script that at times got bad. I don’t think it’s the worst X-men movie. I would have enjoyed the move a tad more if I hadn’t seen the trailer. What could have been a somewhat emotional scene didn’t do anything since they spoiled the shit in the trailer. Won’t mention it in case someone hasn’t seen the trailers for it, but if you have seen them then you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Ok so Dark Phoenix 7.5 / 10

The thing I didn't realize going in....is that this movie represents an alternate character to Jean Grey ( I never read the comic book version). There's a lot going on in this movie, so I'll probably have to see it again, from a "alternate character" perspective.

You have a really generous rating for it compared to most I’ve seen. It’s getting scorched

I hear ya' BEARZOMBIE

My rating is based on learning that it has no real connection to previous X-Men movies with Jean Grey . Now if a moving-goer is looking for (Jean Grey) connections to previous X-Men movies then my rating drops to a 4.5 /10.

This movie, IMO, gets messy by not , making it clear where Jean Grey / Dark Phoenix characters fit in to the overall X-Men series.

Note: I read where....."Mental manipulation by Mastermind caused Phoenix to go insane and become Dark Phoenix."

This kinda' explains it:
Dark Phoenix is even more disappointing if you're a long time X-Men ...

Ready Player One - 8/10

Had it in the queue for a while and finally watched it on my flight home on Tuesday.

I think it is a genuinely entertaining movie/story even if you're not a major video game geek, but even more so if you are.

Only knock, if you want to consider it a knock, is it felt at times like there was more depth/detail to parts of the story/character relationships which had to be trimmed down for the movie, but likely had more to them in the book.

However, I think almost every movie based off a solid book will have those.

Just a few moments in the movie felt like they wanted it to payoff on a character or story investment which they clearly hadn't made in the movie, but I'm guessing was made in some form in the book.

Interesting. How does it compare to The Wizard?

Men in Black International is bad. Really disappointed considering the talent they have acting and behind the camera. Just a poor story with little character development and bad writing. I wasn’t expecting much, but I sure didn’t think it would be as bad as MIB 2 and to my surprise, it’s even worse.

I looked up who wrote the movie afterwards and it made sense after that. Same guys that wrote Transformers Last Night, possibly the worst blockbuster I’ve ever seen in theaters. It’s crazy to think that these two wrote the first Iron Man movie. Kevin Feige must have helped a lot since everything else they’ve written is a steaming pile of shit.
