Mack has no explosion. That combined with it being Brady is what resulted in Mack dropping back in coverage. Think Fangio knows Mack is limited as a pass rusher at the moment.

In before OP...

How does Fangio's dick taste?

which is why he needs to take a couple games off so he gets that back for the push to the playoffs.

If the bears cant beat the Jets and Bills without Mack, they dont deserve to even get to .500.

What ever that dudes name is, I will call him Iggy, Fitts, Lynch and Irving should be able to get some pressure on the QB. It does not take much to screw Darnold up.

It did throw off Brady. The Bears actually threw off the Patriots offense in a pretty significant way, they didn't away with some of the shit they usually get away with.

Two of the TD's came off Bears special teams blunders. Classic Belichick, he found the weak spot of the Bears and pounded it. He's just incredible, no other team except the Patriots wins that game. That's not an excuse for Nagy, the fact that the Bears special teams are that bad is alarming and is one of the clearest signs that he may not be an NFL quality head coach. Seriously, of all the sky-is-falling rhetoric coming out this week that should be #1. The Bears have a talented, athletic bottom-third of the roster...why the hell are the special teams terrible? Its inexcusable.

But the defense was actually OK. Not great, it'll never be great when Mack isn't himself, but effective. Fangio's coverages are awesome. The guy knows what he's doing and exactly how to mix man and zone. The Bears rush though simply sucks without Mack. They aren't talented. Hicks and Goldman are good but they cant bring the heat themselves. Lynch can only succeed in the shadow of Mack and Floyd cant rush period. RRH and Nichols are literally their best chances at penetration when Mack is hobbled like this.

So to see Fangio using these guys the way he does with all these crazy fronts and coverages to even slow down an offense like Tommy TD's...I was a little impressed. Still overall pissed about the loss and worried as hell that Mack's injury isn't going to get better any time soon, but I am not panicking about the defense the way many people are.

I would not be opposed to sitting Mack for the next 2 weeks if that means the Bears get a healthier Mack for the Detroit game.

He doesn't want to sit. Downside of paying a guy 23.5 million a year. If they want to play, they will probably play.

Everyone is talking about this streak of continuous games. Can't he play the first snap and go take a seat and keep his streak intact?

all I am saying, is this streak gets to 100's, in a few years we are really watching a definite superbowl contender and he should sit, he still wont because of the damn streak. Rip the bandaid off now.

Probably wouldn't change anything and even if it did the Bears could get caught napping on Buffalo the same way Minnesota did.

He seemed pretty happy with the results. He is turning a corvette into an escort. I do not go along with that passive defense. I feel 52 should be dong to things at least 90 percent of the time hunting and destroying the QB and stopping the run and soft coverage 10 percent at the very most. I want an aggressive damn defense. I don't want to see 52 playing in the damn secondary-get him to the line of scrimmage for maximum impact.

I'm glad you know better than Fangio, smh. Ever think it could have also had to do with the ankle?

YOU don't get napping when you've lost 2 in a row

Let's be fair. That kick return is gonna burn any team out there when aside from no holds barred you have blatant blocking in the back including a follow up shove on your face from behind right in front of the return man. And there's not a flag to be found. Like you would have to shove dude ONTO a referee to be more visible.

Fangio should be getting praised for the NE game, not taking heat. I will be the first to admit that Adam Gase really put it to Fangio in Miami. But he rebounded in a big way.

Fangio identified Roquan Smith as the weak link of the defense. Every single big play on the first drive was run directly at Smith. So Fangio subbed him in and out frequently so Belichick couldn’t key in on him by using Floyd in the slot a number of times.

Belichick identified the pass rush as the strength and gameplanned to shut it completely down with frequent screen passes (he called 3 screens on the first drive) and keeping TE’s and RB’s on both sides of Brady to chip and double in obvious passing situations. Instead of sending his edge rushers into double teams and getting them sucked into screens, he sent them out into coverage.

Fangio went toe to toe with Belichick and Brady, and he was relatively effective (Brady confused on a number of plays throughout the game). He showed them looks they were not expecting, alignments not seen on film this entire season.

All that being said, I think he squandered some of the benefits to his gameplan by not being more aggressive with his secondary.

He held the Patriots to 24 points if special teams didn't shit the bed it would of been a win.

Right, because there's absolutely no way the Patriots having two extra offensive possessions do not result in points.

Really? So when blitzing causes a sack and interception...don't blitz anymore? Genius game plan by Fangio there bud.
