That's the lowest attendance number I've seen at Wrigley this early in the season in several years and it's only the third home game of the year.

Can't even blame the weather on this one. I'm guessing they'll average over 30k per outing though. They'll likely sell out the games against the big name teams.

Yeah the White Sox, Red Sox, and Cardinals should all be sold out, and if this team is hoovering around .500 into June I could see attendance climbing. If this team tailspins like most predict I might actually go to some games since it will be dirt cheap, for Wrigley.

Do the Yankees come to town again this year or am I thinking of last year still?

Put a contending team on the field....they will come

Put a below average team on the field.....Stay away.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  2. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Chicago State Cougars
  2. DePaul Blue Demons
  3. Illinois-Chicago Flames
  4. Loyola Ramblers
  5. Northern Illinois Huskies

Waiting for Brett to come and argue that the club should fold/be contracted.

I suggest that we join the Frontier League instead, may have a shot at a championship there.

That's the Sox mentality. I just wish more would show up even when they are contending.

I think Easter had something to do with that as well. Let's see how the year unfolds before we throw the Cubs under the truck.

I am pretty sure the Red Sox are the big interleague matchup at Wrigley this year.

I knew they were coming. I just checked and no Yankees. I guess I was thinking about last year's visit still.

The Tigers might be a pretty big deal too.

I'm expecting a lot of Tigers fans to travel for the series in June. The only reason it might not sellout is it's a weekday series and the Tigers are in Cinci the weekend prior. My wife and I are doing a weeklong roadie and hitting both series, but a lot of people I know are only going to make one of the two series.

The Tigers are an interesting matchup, but I think the Red Sox will probably be a bigger draw.

at that point, i wish they were free

 A friend who's a big Astro's fan said he'd come up to Chicago for that series, so we should be able to get some cheap tickets (compared to what they are right now) & then make up the difference in beer (only way to make it through those games).

Meh its about the same as last year

In 2011 our first six games were:
41358
35782
30857
26292
27039
32272

THis year its been:
41176
40102
31973

with the third day being Easter. Its early and its a bad team, and we were playing the Natinals and it was also Easter.

Nothing really to be alarmed about. We will finish around 5th or so in attendance I would imagine which is about where we are every year.

It makes perfect sense -- the team isn't good. Good tickets at Wrigley aren't cheap. Why drop $100 bucks, plus refreshments, to watch the Cubs lose 6-1 when I can watch WGN at home for free :smug:

And don't worry... I've already bought my tickets for a few games

*sigh* This friggin' team....
