Post-draft and huge signing, new thread with a corny prefix I saw in chat. Dewey, if you disagree, merge them, no problem. But seeing as you do cut off threads after a certain point, I thought now would be the time.

AAA Iowa Cubs - The Big Three
Starring for the Iowa Cubs LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh... no seriously, Anthony Rizzo, Brett Jackson, and the re-emergence of Josh Vitters. Rizzo was acquired in January for Andrew Cashner (Zach Cates and Na) were also involved, and has hit 22 homers already for Iowa, despite injuries limiting playing time recently. He leads the Pacific Coast League, and only one player in the AAA International League and one in the Mexican League have more. Rizzo leads the Minors in OPS.
UPDATE: Anthony Rizzo to Chicago
50x50_t553.png
AA Tennesse Smokies - Fisching on a Lake
Junior Lake is the only one of our upper level prospects playing for the Tennessee Smokies besides Trey McNutt who is pitching well but not eating up enough innings.
50x50_t450.png
A+ Daytona Cubs - Julius Szczur Has Been Assassinated!
No, really though, Matt Szczur had a dreadful start to the season, but then surged to make his numbers closer to being respectable. After a couple days of not playing and no injury report, he was DL'ed. Was a BA Top 100 Prospect heading Into the season.
Update: Szczur has rebounded nicely since injury.
50x50_t443.png
A- Peoria Chiefs - Baez Town
#3 Cubs prospect pre-Soler Javier Baez has been the big show in Peoria after being added to the Chiefs roster shortly before the end of extended spring training. #3 Cuban prospect that defected for the 2012 season Gerardo Concepcion is inconsistent and new signing, arguably the #1 Cuban defector this year, Jorge Soler is expected to join the team after his visa process is completed.
Update: Concepcion and Baez struggling (Concepcion all season, Baez just recently).
50x50_t480.png
SS-A Boise Hawks - Sad Time for Simpson
The Boise Hawks start on the 17th. 2010 First-Round Pick Hayden Simpson was demoted from Daytona to Boise.
Update: Keep an eye on 3B Jeimer Candelario.
50x50_t407.png
R Mesa Cubs - Because it Sounds Better than AZL Cubs
Yet to start. Officially AZL Cubs
Update: Vogelbach has started strong. Gretzky has struggled.
50x50_t609.png
R DSL Cubs1 - Supposed to be better than DSL Cubs2 but aren't.
Yeah, won't know much about prospects until later.
50x50_t2270.png
R DSL Cubs2 - Better than the DSL first squad.
See DSL Cubs1 summary
50x50_t407.png
F Chicago Cubs - Yes, It is Really That Bad
If it weren't for SS phenom Starlin Castro, the Chicago team would be the worst in the organization. I would also like to add that Geovany Soto is a beast.
50x50_t407.png

N/A Draft Pool
The draft is over, but the big prize has yet to sign. He has until July 13th to do so, or we get the 7th pick in the 2013 draft in addition to whatever pick we get for being terrible. That draftee would be five-tool outfielder Albert Almora BTW, but you must have already known that.

2016 Cubs Starters:
Jackson-Almora-Soler
Vitters-Castro-Baez-Rizzo
Castillo
Samardzija

I'd say that our top prospects are now:
Rizzo
Soler
Jackson
Baez
Vitters

If Almora Signs:
Rizzo
Soler
Jackson
Almora
Baez
as a top 5. I really like this tbh.

There are far better top 5's in baseball, but it certainly is an improvement over a few years ago.

Ya, I think all 5 can be good starters at the MLB level though, which wouldn't really be said coming into the season with guys like McNutt.

While there is a good chance of these guys being solid-to-elite in the majors, you still have to see what they can do first. There's a higher probability that every single one of these guys fail than there is of them forming the core of the next great World Series team.

Hope, but be a bit pragmatic about it.

Exactly the odds that all 3 of Baez, Almora, and Soler turn into even league average starters is very, very low. Love the upside of all these guys but a lot happens to guys on the journey from Mesa to Chicago.

Nah... I disagree if we take "the next great World Series team" out of it. That part wasn't fair, I mean, come one, it's the Cubs.

Ya, but without that part I disagree. Because the odds of all of them failing would be the odds multiplied and be extraordinarily small, presumably a lot lower than the odds of one success.

Prospects! :fap:

EDIT: Never mind, I thought you said one of them being on the core.

I agree that the odds of us getting 1 good player is going up as we stack more and more blue chip prospects together. It is just those future lineups that include guys that have yet to take a professional AB is silly.

Ya, I misread his post. I thought he said all of them failing vs. one of them succeeding.

1. Jackson: Seemed almost certain before, then he struggled, turned it back on, but K's too much. ETA: September

2. Rizzo: He'll be up if not injured. ETA: July

3. Soler: ETA: Mid-2015

Ya, he is lower age than average draft pick and not everybody can be Starlin Castro as far as rapid acceleration through the minors. Theo doesn't like to "rush" people either. We'll all be dead by then, so it won't matter. :smug:

I think the lack of playing has been blown out of proportion though.

No dude, the only hope is spending trillions of dollars on free agents.

JK, nice to see you somewhat caring about prospects right now. :)

It might be but it certainly doesn't help a guy by most accounts is only ready for a ball right now.
