For all the damage, Dempster really hasn't thrown that many pitches.

lol, he's really not pitched too poorly...Cards are hitting the ball the other way and being patient.

Not really waiting him out that much though. They took the outside pitch the other way and found holes. Goldstein already answered a fan's question about his trade value, and a rough outing doesn't really affect his trade value. If he gets hurt on the other hand...

Something cooking with a Clevenger single to get runners at the corner with no outs.

Anyone know what the deal is with the bump on Clevenger's neck? It was pretty big last week, but has shrunk a bit since.

Valbuena is apparently only allowed to hit with runners in scoring positions. Promising start results in only a run.

I'm pretty sure whatever offers were on the table did not shrink just because Dempster dared to have a bad first inning. At the same time, offers are likely not to increase because a) he shorted the new team at least one inning/start and b) Dempster's simply not worth that much in trade if you just factor in raw numbers and forget about desperation etc.

I'm prepared for a mediocre return.

I guess I just don't get if there is no hope for a better return why they are starting him. I don't logical see how whatever he does tonight besides staying healthy does anything to increase or decrease his trade value, but that is the only reason I can figure they are trotting him out there (or Rice's theory that the offers are so terrible that they think gambling on getting a comp pick would be better now).

Yeah, I like DeJesus. Honestly, I'm surprised HIS name hasn't come up in a deal to a team like Detroit -- who could use a good bat at the top of the line-up.

Yeah really don't mind that strikeout given that he really couldn't do anything with it. It was a perfect pitch.
