*in Terminator voice* ILL BE BACK
Well the 47 year old(48 in January) Czech goaltender Dominik Hasek is ONCE AGAIN making a comeback to the National Hockey League. Commonly known as The Dominator, he retired after the 2002 season(but came back almost immediately) and once after the 2008 season(in which Detroit won the Stanley Cup) and returned to this native hometown of Pardubice, Czech Republic.
Like that would keep him away from the game as he signed with the local Hockey Club out there and won the Czech League Title. During the regular season he went 24-12 with 3 shutouts, 2.24 Goals Against Average and a .921 Save%. During the playoffs he lost the 1st game and then ripped off 12 straight with 3 shutouts, 1.68 Goals Against Average and a .937 Save %.
The following year he signed with the Hockey Club Spartak Moscow of the Kontinental Hockey League and played in 44 games recording 23 wins, 18 losses, 3 OT losses, GAA of 2.45 and a .915 save % while playing nearly 2,600 minutes. His team was bounced in the first round however as he struggled with a 4.12 GAA and a save % of .864(yipes).
Once he made his comeback announcement official he expressed a desire to play for 3 teams that he was familiar with in the Blackhawks, the Red Wings and the Sabres. Buffalo however said no as they prepare to move forward with Miller and Enroth, Detroit probably is a strong possibility and the Hawks? Bowman is already committed to using Crawford as the #1 and Emery as the #2, but there COULD be a small chance.
Why? Well the Hawks had an interest in 42 year old French-Canadian goalie Martin Brodeur who resigned with the Devils for another 2 years, but as mentioned Martin is younger than Hasek. Do I believe the Hawks could pursue him? Highly unlikely
Where do you think he'll end up Hawk fans? COULD we see the Dominator in a Hawks sweater again, back with the Red Wings or elsewhere?
