I know it doesn't mean anything, but he started at WR at least 1 preseason game with the #1 unit and he caught his fair share of passes from Jay, if memory serves. I don't think Weems is going anyplace, but hell, I was wrong about Webb what do I know.
That he did, but he is a career 4 Rec/39Yds per yr guy, so not really a lot there, but who knows.

Were we all this excited about previous drafts and offseasons? To be sure we had some recent offseason with a lot of potential. Are we all overreacting because it's all kind of new or is this the real deal?

glad to see Webb cut, I had given him the benefit of the doubt for a while, and thought with the move back to the less taxing RT position, along with Kromer, he would finally get a clue. But he made it obvious that instead of even putting forth the effort, he would only continue to not put the work in, and just regress. Hardin I'd like to see on the practice squad, but not sure if he can be put on there. I'm curious to see if we snatch up anyone elses cuts, maybe a young developmental QB, with Blanchard brought back to the practice squad as well.

I can't rightly remember the last time there was THIS much hype about a Bears's rookie class. I think post-draft there were big questions, but almost every rookie has impressed the coaching staff from minicamp through the preseason. I hesitate to buy in, because it's the Bears...but it seems legit.

And speaking of hype, can we talk about how much love our head coach hiring is getting? I heard a reporter during the Browns game call Trestman "one of the most creative, innovative offensive minds in the NFL." Now I'm excited too, but this dude hasn't even coached an NFL game yet, ever! I'm taking a wait-and-see approach on him.

Emery though.... he's a killer.

Agree about Webb, Thought he was making improvements each year, but he really looked lethargic this year. He should have dominated against Cleveland's 2nd/3rd string, but ended up getting dominated. Hope Bushrod doesn't get hurt because our options don't look any better. Had hopes for Hardin, but after seeing him play, just don't see what anyone sees in him. Was night/day watching him and Walters. Hoping they bring Blanchard back after he heals, thought he was playing well. Surprised { and happy ) CJ Wilson made it this far. He played a lot, but didn't see much action as it seems everyone went after Hurst.

Was happy to finally see Onobun catch a pass

Wow did you really put Al Afalava on the list??? Might as well put Caleb Hanie, Lance Louis, and Chilo Rachal on too..:bizarro:
But Seriously, good job putting together a list of targets although I don't think the Bears need more LB and WR right now. Jimmy Clausen reminds me of a young Josh McCown so there is that possibility I guess. I think Orson Charles, Zebrie Sanders, and Braxton Cave might be interesting too.

I see no evidence that Cory Brandon has been released. All others have been confirmed by the Bears.
Here is the current roster
We currently stand at 58

Neither Brandon Hardin, nor Cory Brandon have officially been released as yet, but they will both be released due to injury.

I'm really not liking the fact that a 30-year old, one-trick pony like Hester is taking up a roster spot from another player who may have a brighter future with the team. I love what he did for the Bears and all the memories but I feel he's done. I hope I'm wrong though and he gets another couple of years with 6 return TDs each. (not likely to happen)

I think this team accomplished everything they possibly could through preseason. Its on to real games now.

But the real test for Trestman will come when this team has to face the adversity of a couple losses in a row. Thats when we will get to see what kind of coach he can be.

I don't even think Trest would agree that they accomplished everything they possibly could, because he seems like a perfectionist, and I bet his expectations are higher than the produce so far.

But I think that they look real good for Trest's first offseason and appear to be on the upswing, and I agree with the string of losses statement. Everybody hits that slump..it's all about how you respond.

That one trick is a pretty good one though. I can't wait to see what he can do this season on fresh legs. If he doesn't have the magic anymore, we can always release during the season and promote a PS player or release him next year

They can both be IRed right? So they would still be on the roster and available next year for camp.
