Welcome to the Chicago Bears 2014 Mock Draft Database!

Last year I caught some flack for starting the MDD early -- so what did I do this year? Started it almost 2 months earlier!!! It's NEVER too early to talk NFL Draft!

Since there's a LOT of unknowns at this point, this thread can serve as a landing spot for your draft information. We've got a lot of draft nuts on this site, and we can all appreciate the information/insight more if it's centralized in one thread. Eventually, this post will look a lot like the 2013, 2012 and 2011 CCS MDD's, which you can view below.

I think after every Bears loss a lot of people start looking towards to the draft, at least I do. So far DT appears to be the theme for 2014

In the mod forum planning your ban
I'm with Mr.Peanut. We need to go defense heavy in the draft. The defense is old and finally showing their age, we have two all pro CB's that are on their last years and Peppers will probably be cut next year

Wow. People have a lot of time on their hands if they are already researching which FB we can get in the 6th round 6 months from now.

I would not support using a draft pick on any FB. How big a difference can there be between what we have now vs who we would draft, at a position that has little to no relevance in today's NFL?

I would say the top three needs are center, defensive tackle and cornerback.

I would like to see the Bears take the best center in the draft whether they are a first round pick or a late round pick, Garza is up there in age and might not be retained.

Charles Tillman is in his 30s and both him and Tim Jennings have expiring contracts so the Bears could draft a cornerback early.

Henry Melton and Nate Collins are out for the season and Stephan Paea was injured so a defensive tackle in the early rounds would be nice.

Maybe a defensive end since Julius Peppers is the only reliable player on the defensive line right now. I'm not giving up on McClellin and Wootton but the Bears should still look into that.

Michael Bush is good but the Bears barely use him. They could cut him and draft a running back at some point.

Personally, I believe we may be best served to go DT & DE w/ our first two picks...especially if we're going to stick w/ the base cover-2.

Melton - injured, FA next year
Paea - next year is his last under contract
Collins - injured, FA next year
Minter - Undrafted Rookie

Peppers - Not elite anymore. Still good - but may be waived after the season
McClellin - Not a consistent DE. May be traded
Washington - Rookie who isn't getting PT
Wootton - DE, not a DT...and is a FA next year

So, if we let Peppers go...we could be looking at Paea, Minter, Washington and McClellin as our DL. That's....scary...in the worst way....

Biggest needs are DE/DT and CB. Whoever is the BPA at one of those picks should be the 1st round pick.

Two guys I like so far in the first for the Bears are Tuitt and Verrett.

Free Agency: Sign DE Michael Johnson

It's time for an overhaul on the defensive line, just like we saw on the offensive line last offseason. I hope it doesn't take the rfront office 6 seasons to figure it out like it did with the offensive line.

1) Stephon Tuitt DE/DT - 6'6"/312 IMO this kid would be a great pick for the Bears, he's been an excellent player consistently, & right now is playing the way everyone thought Clowney would. This kid is big & athletic, & would make a great 3-tech. I also think he'd bring the Bears versatility & they could play him as a 1 shade or even kick him out to the edge as a 5-tech as well as the 3-tech. I think this kid would be a good pick.

2) Aaron Colvin CB - 6'0/185 - This kids game is balance he's a solid defender in zone, man, press coverage & run defense & he's not afraid to get dirty inside in the nickel. The biggest knock on this kid is he doesn't have blazing speed. His playing style reminds me of a young Tillman. I would love this pick.

3) DE - Kareem Martin - DE 6'6"/265 - It's time to scrap the McClellin experiment now for an actual defensive end. Martin is a complete DE & TFL machine vs the run who also brings great length on his 6'6" frame. He's more of a LE that could develop into more of a pure pass rushing RE in time. He's very good at setting the edge, playing contain, defending the run, plays some head-up & net a solid number of sacks too. I think this kid is a very good DE that's being overshadowed in the constant Clowney hype. I doubt he'll be available in the third & should go in the second but right now it's close & really too early to determine.

4) C - Hroniss Grasu - 6'3"/298 - Many say Kromer prefers size & there may be some truth in that but the biggest truth is like any other coach, Kromer prefers players that can succeed in his scheme over anything else. Grassu is the perfect mold of Center for an up tempo inside zone scheme & could pack on another 10 pounds muck like Kromer had Kyle Long do. I think the kid could start from day one. He's very athletic, smart & he's used to playing fast & running alot. Right now I like a lot of Oregon & Cal offensive line prospects to fit the mold of what the Bears on the O-line at Center, Grassu is probably who I like the most. This would be another very good offensive line pick.

5) DT - Calvin Barnett - 6'2"/300 - I really like this kid & I do think he's going to go a bit lower than he really should. If this year tells us anything at all it tells us we need a lot of depth at the interior of the defensive line. This kid has quick twitch needed to play the three tech position & he can also play NT as he does both at O. State. I think he'd make a very nice developmental DT prospect that could spell the starting 3-tech or NT immediately as a backup. His biggest flaws are gap discipline & his temper, he can be a little too mean but if he can harness his aggression he could end up being a three down lineman in time. If the Bears picked Barnett in the mid rounds it would be one of my favorite picks in the draft.

6) WR - Tevin Reese - 5'10/170 - We need some speed to stretch the field in the offense & it's also time for the Hester era to come to a close as a return man. As a poor mans Kendal Wright, Tevin Reese would be a very good replacement for Hester moving forward that could also stretch the field with his 4.27/40 time. The Bears really don't need him to be a regular in the receiving as much as they need someone on occasion to stretch the field & return punts/kicks. I like this kid, Baylor sends a lot of good WR's to the pros & I do think this kid could end up being one of them.

7) QB - Casey Pachal - The Bears need QB depth badly no matter how Cutler plays. I wanted the Bears to draft one earlier but unfortunately I didn't envision the complete collapse of the defensive line. I think this late in the draft the Bears would almost have to look at a kid who could have gone a bit higher had he not gotten into legal trouble. Before his problems the kid was one of the best QB's in college football but has had problems since. He's got a great arm & can be very accurate. I think a coach like Trestman would be a good situation for the kid to get his groove back & keep his head on his shoulder. This kid was an excellent QB before he got in trouble, I think Trestman would be the perfect situation to help this kid get back on track.

Watched a little of DeQuan Jones play yesterday. He had a nice pressure splitting a double-team, but the QB was able to sidestep him and make a play. Other than that he was double-teamed a lot and kept at bay. They did say Michigan had no push against the Penn St. DL though.

Exum was cleared to play, anxious to see if he picks up where he left off last year.
